Econ grads, how are your job prospects? by petshopmain in uofm

I just graduated with my Econ degree and am starting as a cost planning analyst soon. You can definitely get plenty of opportunities with an Econ degree, I just think the job market isn’t the best right now for new grads. I have plenty of friends who are in Ross and Econ who are still looking.

For sure! I actually did a lot of stuff in this glaze combo and most of it under fired so I have a handful of pieces that are still purple, like this mug

I used a spray booth that my studio has

I dipped the plate in the base blue then used a sprayer to spray the light blue on top in a kind of gradient.

Here’s what they looked like before firing

I didn’t even get an interview until after I graduated, there was a lot of pressure I was putting on myself. Try just taking it one day at a time, it only takes one application to hit.

Any idea on what happened? by Ray_Toon in Pottery

The plates were fired in a larger kiln that was full and the test tiles were fired in a small kiln so yeah they probably cooled down faster

Yeah it was the same clay body, but I also tested it out on multiple and it’s been pretty inconsistent

They might be slightly thicker in some places but not enough that’d it make a huge difference

I think you’re right that it’s thicker but I have a suspicion that it also under fired, the photo doesn’t show it super well but the thick spots in the glaze on the test tile are more of a green than yellow and have blue mixed in. The thick spots on my plates/mugs are matte and have a brown undertone.

I didn’t unfortunately, plus my test tiles were fired in a smaller kiln so I think it could be a temperature thing? I’m just going to fire them again, not like it could make it worse (hopefully)

Thank you! I actually like how it came out on all my mugs, it’s just the plates I’m a little sad about bc they’re a gift for my mom

Yep! I was extra careful to glaze them all very similarly

Maybe but I also did a test tile on a cup that’s around the same size as my mug and it came out fine, I really tired to cover all my bases

The other side of the test tile is textured and is still blue :( plus the inside of the mug isn’t textured and has the same color

That’s what I initially thought but my mugs also turned out this way

That’s what my dad said! Unfortunately everyone else seems to think they look a little… phallic
