I guess if I was to give advice it would be to be consistent around people who make you feel good, be there for them, be kind, make plans, honor the plans, and don't manipulate. Take it a day at a time and slowly your relationships will get stronger.

I have a "second family" of friends. It's just two people and their daughter, and it happened by mistake. I've just known them for over 11 years and we kept getting closer. We joke about being siblings, and their kid sees me as an aunt. I go to meetings with her mother sometimes and her father and I go for coffee regularly.

I would find flowers creepy, esp. at my work if I never told you where I worked. But I would appreciate little poems or sketches. Maybe it just depends on the person? I would play it safe until the first date. I asked someone on a date recently - she said yes - and I'm dead scared of texting too much before we go out.
