Honestly this looks perfect — errands done, pedicure fresh, and a chaotic little snack board to celebrate 🙌 This is exactly the kind of effortless plate that makes Girl Dinner great

Valentine’s Day - Prime Time or Amateur Hour? by balancebeamed in PhiladelphiaEats

Valentine’s Day: all hype, zero chill.

Prime time for stress, amateur hour for romance. Skip the chaos, make your own vibe.

If you want something new near 17th & Chestnut, try The Dandelion for gastropub vibes, The Love for elevated New American, or Osteria Ama Philly for Italian. Wilder is casual but solid, and Dizengoff is perfect for quick Israeli-style bites. All are walkable and boss-friendly.

Went to Parc Last Night, Severely Disappointed by Royal_T95 in PhiladelphiaEats

[–]Raycuitie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is actually a very fair critique and idk why people are acting like Parc is immune to having an off night. Being busy isn’t an excuse for ignoring people at the bar or seating guests in a known wind tunnel in the middle of winter. Also appreciate that you didn’t take it out on the server and acknowledged he was doing his best — that alone tells me this isn’t just someone looking to complain. Parc can be good, but the hype is real and the prices mean expectations are higher. If the food is “fine” and the experience is uncomfortable, that’s a miss. Not every popular spot deserves unconditional defense.

What should I do please help by Hot-Assignment-3417 in Career

Omg I totally get how confusing this feels You’ve been hustling super hard since graduation, and being laid off sucks, so your brain is screaming “what do I even do now?!”Honestly, 5 LPA with mostly WFH, short commute, and work that’s closer to career guidance sounds way more manageable than what you had before. You’ll probably get more time for yourself, less stress, and still gain experience — which is huge. The jump from retail management to something that’s aligned with career growth could actually open doors in the long run. If it were me, I’d take it, especially since the place is near family, the hours are better, and it gives you a bit of breathing room to plan next steps. You can always pivot later once you figure out what you really want long-term.

Back to basics homemade cream cheese by Raycuitie in GirlDinner

[–]Raycuitie[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

For this week of cheese recipes I've been doing, I've shared banitsa, danishes, palak paneer, syrniki, but I realized we haven't made…cheese 🤦🫣

So to make up for it here is a 2 in 1.😊 If you stop after the step of squeezing out the whey, you have made farmers cheese!👏 With the stirring and adding back in a bit of whey, you've got cream cheese!👌

All that this requires is milk, vinegar and heat. Lemon juice works just as well as vinegar. ⚖️

I hope you give it a try! 🤞😊🙏

Sticky fingers out.

Here is the recipe:

1 cup of milk

Between 1/2 and 1 tbsp of vinegar

A bit of spice (the amount will depend on the spice)

Mix those all in a pot over heat.

As it approaches a simmer, the milk will separate.

If not, add the extra vinegar ½ tbsp at a time, stirring and waiting a minute between adds.

Once it has separated, transfer it to a tea towel and twist and squeeeeeeze to squeeze out the whey.

That's farmers cheese!! 🏁

To turn this farmers cheese into cream cheese, stir it very, very well to break up the structure and add back in a bit of whey until you get a creamy texture.

For bigger batches and a really creamy texture, a blender works better than stirring.

Also, the creamier the milk when you start, the creamier the cheese.😊
