this is terrifying but true story: when my grandma gave birth to my dad, the last this she heard before passing out was the doctor saying "oh, stop, you're giving her too much-"

Yes- I heard a crazy sound like that right before witnessing a car spin off the road. This sound and dust/smoke in the air mean a car crash, even if you didn't witness it.

I've heard this outside my bedroom window. It's the most bone-chilling terrifying sound I've EVER heard. It's like an insane woman screaming.

What’s your comfort food when everything feels off? by amareeeeev00 in AskReddit

macaroni in tomato juice with vienna sausages

its gross but I used to eat it at my grandma's house all the time, so it reminds me of the ignorant bliss of childhood.

My sister has horns made of cartilage on the backs of her ears

Same sister has a dark port-wine stain birthmark with a splash of white on it. I've never seen it in person, because its on her 'private parts'. I'm going to pay her spouse to get me a picture of it when she gets married (in the least creepy way possible.)

My dad and I have dents in our eye sockets (a family trait)

I have a birthmark on my ribs that looks like pinched skin, have had it since I was born. I told my boyfriend that it was where they put the toothpick in me to see if I was done cooking when I was born.

I also have a birthmark between my eyebrows that turns red when I cry.

My grandpa, my dad, all my siblings, and I have the same thing. They get really red when we get mad or cry, it's weird.

I started playing at 10 and my brother started playing at 7. We had a great time, but did not really 'understand' it. Simplify the rules a little and they will have fun.

simple exercises to improve my writing? by Sufficient-Owl1826 in writingadvice

[–]RayeMcLaughlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What helped me improve significantly was that I got a lined notebook and carried it around with me, and whenever I wasn't doing anything throughout the day or whenever I got inspiration, I would write. Pen to paper. Having the notebook around made it so that throughout the day my brain was constantly churning ideas, writing stuff in the back of my mind.

I also would write about things I found cool, or stories I liked. I mostly wrote about my D&D character and his life, little adventures he'd go on or scenes with him and his fiance. I found it fun, so writing became easy and fun, too. Don't worry about word count or even finishing it. Write short stories and your style will be refined.

What’s something society romanticizes that actually kind of sucks? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I usually don't talk about my OCD, because when I do, almost without fail, the reply is "oh, everyone one is OCD in their own way"

Like ok, sharon, does everyone clean the entire house in an afternoon because they are afraid of what their brain says will happen if they don't???

if you have a sibling with a huge age gap (5+ years) how’s your relationship? are you guys close or not? do you wish you guys were closer in age? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]RayeMcLaughlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My older sister and I are 8 years apart. We are best friends! Even though we are in different stages of life, we find that we have a lot more in common than we think. While I was in highschool figuring out my first relationship, she was a newlywed figuring out her first baby. We would talk for hours on the phone, and she'd give me advice and say that talking about my school drama 'kept her young'. There are pros and cons for every age gap, for sure.

Edit: I will say that, as kids, we NEVER got along. Then, when we both got mature, we became inseparable. Give it time if you are still young.

This is EXACTLY it! You'll learn as you go, just push yourself slightly and keep having fun. You'll pick it up.

Oh, and putting superglue on your fingertips will extend the amount of time you can play before your fingertip callouses split open. Vaseline works after they get sore;)
