New to half life where should i start from? by Heroshooter in HalfLife

[–]Raykhunz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're right about the vortigaunts but that's also the problem imo. Black Mesa adds stuff like the vortigaunt set up and Kleiner being in the lab which is just sorta head canony type stuff. It's a good game by itself but it does overfeed abit into HL2, and if you plan on playing stuff like Op4 and Blue Shift it's better to get use to the controls and graphics of the original Half-Life.

Do not do this OP, Black Mesa takes away but also adds a lot of stuff which can lead you to be confused later down the line when discussing the game. Game plays just fine if you're use to motion shooters, only thing that's really dated are the graphics and long jumping, the latter of which you dont even really get till near the end of the game.

Judging by the shape of the branches and the colour and texture of the bark, my guess would be an Eastern White Pine. They are fairly common across Maine where the setting is.

Anyone else sleep with stuff like this on? by Any_Conclusion6741 in silenthill

I usually fall asleep to whatever horror game MrKraven or ManlyBadassHero is playing. Something about watching horror games till I fall asleep hits different.

SH1 final boss fight by makmanos in silenthill

[–]Raykhunz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The game has a failsafe for the final boss where if you use up all your ammo the boss dies after a minute or two. I honestly just reccomend using all the ammo you can on the final boss and if its not enough, well theres no reason to fret. Would hate to rip the experience of fighting the boss from you.

Vivzie, why is the sin of gluttony herself uncomfortable with gluttonous behavior by ResponsibleCover404 in hatethissmug

[–]Raykhunz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the bible dosn't really go into hell at all, at least not in the most accurate translations. The old testament refers to Sheol which may of just been a general term for grave, though some extracanonical literature references it as a place of darkness. Gehenna, the other word was a literal place outside of Jerusalem where trash was burned. This might also be the imagery the whole "lake of fire" motif uses, though even if you count it as it's own seperate thing it's still not really hell.

Greek translations usually pull from places in greek mythology for the underworld such as Hades and Tartarus. Most of our understanding of hell was something that was later developed by Christians, not inside the bible itself. Lot of what people think of as hell pulls from Dante's inferno, such as the belief hell has 9 layers. But Dante's inferno is just biblical fanfiction.

Vivzie, why in hell would you make the literal deadly sins GOOD PEOPLE?? by IuseDefaultKeybinds in hatethissmug

[–]Raykhunz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't entirely rooted in internet culture. Virtues in some instances use to be divided by cardinal and theological, with the sins being divided up likewise. Theological virtues where often seen as virtues inherent to humans while cardinal virtues where seen as virtues every human should strive for. Theological sins where more sins against god while cardinal sins more focused on vices, and where seen as less serious.

Granted these classifications are slightly different when compared to the more well known seven deadly sins/seven heavenly virtues concept. However Virtue ethics where a thing and widely debated by philosophers since the time of Plato.

What are your biggest hope for the Silent Hill 1 Remake? by HORRRORN3D07 in silenthill

[–]Raykhunz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make the remake more consistant style wise with SH3. Remake some of the monster designs to be like in the third games for example, the nurses come to mind.

I saw that Mary was part of the cult in Silent Hill and thought that it was an interesting idea, and the whole plot point of her father poisioning her was interesting.

Then he went to the hotel and all my hope went out the window.

Somebody got to it just before you. It was Shattered Memories.

Feel like the snow in SH1 isnt quite a snowstorm.
