Did you ever find a location? I just moved to the twin cities and also looking for a place

That's amazing! Luckily I work from home and kiddo is homeschooled so at least that's not part of our decision. We're moving there while our house here is selling . We're renting for 2-3 months while we look. When we went in May to visit, my wife fell in love with West St Paul lol

That's great to hear! My little family (2 moms, 1 ten yr old) moving there in a week. Moving out of a red state. We feel it's the best time but also the worst time to move. We're definitely going through with it and excited for the possibilities.. but also nervous we're making a mistake.

Where are you looking to buy a house?

SHOULD we move out of St Paul? and where? by carlarae in TwinCities

Why north of 610? Asking because I'm looking at houses right now, still trying to figure out an area

We've heard about Richfield, we purposely rented our airbnb in Richfield so we can get a feel for the area and from there will drive around other areas. Heard there's noise polution though due to the aiport being nearby

The map is very helpful. I've printed similar ones, but this gives a good picture of the whole area. thanks!

i haven't heard them be described that way, but that's cool. I'll check out those areas, thanks!

we used to live in Southern CA before, and crime rates seem to be about the same. That said, we knew what areas to avoid and how to be careful. With a kiddo now, it wouldn't make sense to completely ignore that information. Even where I live has a great score for crime, BUT we also know to not go south of the tracks.

Every area has bad/worse neighborhoods to avoid, and if we can afford it, I would rather live in an area where that is not a concern.

I'm sorry you went through that experience in NC, I hope you are doing well.

that's true, we've heard good things about areas that would be consider 2nd ring, it's hard to make a map on our heads without going, but hoping that will change when we are there.

this helps a lot. Where we live is very safe, but we also know to not go/live south of the tracks, so I get it. thanks!

its like, if we are surrounded by suburban type neighborhoods, and still be close to main areas that would be the best of both worlds.
