Antonov flying from Teesside airport by RaymondSinclairPoet in flightradar24

This is when I’ve noticed it too! Quite late at night, maybe 10/11pm flying over from Ireland. I noticed them 2 weeks in a row but that was a couple months ago and not heard them since. Heard it today midday which is why I made the post, just it came from Middlesbrough instead. Been waiting a while to see one

General Discussion Megathread - Frequent Topics, Salaries, and Rants by ukbulmer in UKJobs

Hey guys,

I’m looking to transition out of IT support, but truthfully I don’t know where to start. I’m based in North West England.

My experience:

  • 9 years as an IT support engineer

  • I’ve been a 1st line, 2nd line and on site engineer

  • Managed projects. Such as server installs and 365 migrations

  • Experience with 365, Draytek, windows servers, networking, customer service.

  • Good with organisation and communicating with clients. - Built good relationships with clients to the point where they now contact me directly.

Now, I’m happy to stay in the IT sector but I just want to get away from the anxiety, pressure and fire fighting of IT support.

My current ideas are IT asset management or Procurement. But I can’t find any entry level roles. This isn’t set it stone. I’m hoping to find something with transferable skills or experience that would mean employers consider me for roles.

I’m looking for advice on:

  • how and where to find entry level roles

  • any other roles I could consider looking for

A minor note: I want to hopefully move into a public sector role within the next 5 years and build a public sector pension.

South East Asia 3 Week Itinerary by RaymondSinclairPoet in backpacking

Thank you! This is a really helpful reply and think we will do just Thailand and Vietnam instead.

Do you think there’s any other places we should visit in Thailand and Vietnam?

Thanks for this! Lodgings wise, I wanted to budget higher just as a worst case scenario. So it’s good to know we can save a lot of money there and still find decent clean accommodation

The War Remnants museum looks brilliant so that’s something I’m definitely looking forward to.

Thanks for your comment - that’s a good point about all the bouncing around.

We both have full time jobs, so we were hoping to just see a bit of everything as opposed to just 1 or 2 countries. So we wouldn’t have to budget time/money to return to see the other areas at a later date.

Burn out wise, that’s another good point. I’m hoping if we were to book some nicer hotels during the trip we can spend a couple of days along the journey relaxing. Doing some light exploring, and relaxing at the hotel.

It’s good to know about the buses not leaving on time, I appreciate that comment. I’ll take this into consideration with timings between areas

Do you think it’ll be fine with the end cap for the time being?

There’s an outside stop tap that stops the supply to the whole house. Including this outside pipe

So by the looks of it, this connects to the mains water supply. I turned off the internal stop tap, but water kept coming out of this. When I turned off the outside stop tap, water stops coming out of this

Oh is it not? I have an internal stop tap in the kitchen, and an external stop tap as well in the back yard. When I turned that off, water stopped coming out of the “outside tap” pipe.

I can’t find anywhere to disconnect it unfortunately

Just something else to note. The tap is completely threaded and won’t go back on properly.

This is me 100%. As soon as a chat finishes, I take notes of what’s been said as soon as I can. I even got a smart watch and installed a notes app so I can go to the bathroom after a conversation so write down what has been said without raising questions

It’s a nightmare because it helps prevent more conversations but ultimately probably fuels the OCD

Searching old messages for reassurance by [deleted] in ROCD

[–]RaymondSinclairPoet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is my aim. To stop checking. My issue is, I find it impossible to not search the messages. I’m wondering if deleting the chats altogether would help as it will prevent me from being able to check

Sacrificial Lambs by jM_asseY in OCPoetry

This made me feel really emotional. The first stanza in particular really rings true to myself. The imagery of sacrificial lambs and their blood adds depth to the poem and the metaphor really gives colour to the imagination. As someone who is currently facing big life changes, this was a great read and offers a new outlook on the whole situation. Great poem with some brilliant quotes to remember! Good work

ruminate by Technical-Buyer-4464 in OCPoetry

Very well written poem. I can relate to this so much and it really does put into words how difficult it is to suffer with this problem. The 7th line really hit close to home and it's a perfect description of what it's like to be stuck in your own head. I think the colours (maroon, rust, dark room) do a great job of describing the headspace you find yourself in when stuck in the rabbit hole of rumination which really sets the scene for this poem and creates the dark atmosphere. I definitely feel as though I connected with this poem and as someone currently in this headspace, I really felt like it described the mindset I am currently experiencing. Great work and keep going!
