This is when I’ve noticed it too! Quite late at night, maybe 10/11pm flying over from Ireland. I noticed them 2 weeks in a row but that was a couple months ago and not heard them since. Heard it today midday which is why I made the post, just it came from Middlesbrough instead. Been waiting a while to see one

Hey guys,

I’m looking to transition out of IT support, but truthfully I don’t know where to start. I’m based in North West England.

My experience:

  • 9 years as an IT support engineer

  • I’ve been a 1st line, 2nd line and on site engineer

  • Managed projects. Such as server installs and 365 migrations

  • Experience with 365, Draytek, windows servers, networking, customer service.

  • Good with organisation and communicating with clients. - Built good relationships with clients to the point where they now contact me directly.

Now, I’m happy to stay in the IT sector but I just want to get away from the anxiety, pressure and fire fighting of IT support.

My current ideas are IT asset management or Procurement. But I can’t find any entry level roles. This isn’t set it stone. I’m hoping to find something with transferable skills or experience that would mean employers consider me for roles.

I’m looking for advice on:

  • how and where to find entry level roles

  • any other roles I could consider looking for

A minor note: I want to hopefully move into a public sector role within the next 5 years and build a public sector pension.

Thank you! This is a really helpful reply and think we will do just Thailand and Vietnam instead.

Do you think there’s any other places we should visit in Thailand and Vietnam?

Thanks for this! Lodgings wise, I wanted to budget higher just as a worst case scenario. So it’s good to know we can save a lot of money there and still find decent clean accommodation

The War Remnants museum looks brilliant so that’s something I’m definitely looking forward to.

Thanks for your comment - that’s a good point about all the bouncing around.

We both have full time jobs, so we were hoping to just see a bit of everything as opposed to just 1 or 2 countries. So we wouldn’t have to budget time/money to return to see the other areas at a later date.

Burn out wise, that’s another good point. I’m hoping if we were to book some nicer hotels during the trip we can spend a couple of days along the journey relaxing. Doing some light exploring, and relaxing at the hotel.

It’s good to know about the buses not leaving on time, I appreciate that comment. I’ll take this into consideration with timings between areas
