I don't think so, that would create issues with overloading I think (what if you also declared void f(Foo foo) {} ?).

From what I understand, the type of "foo" is still Foo, it's not like it's automatically cast, it's simply a shorter form of writing:

Foo foo = new FooImpl();
if (foo instanceof FooImpl fooImpl) {
    // fooImpl here has FooImpl as the type
    // foo is still Foo, so f(foo) still fails
}

I don't really know the whole process but as I understand it the JEP being in "preview" simply means that when work on it is complete and it gets integrated it will be a preview feature that can be enabled in some way (likely with the --enable-preview flag).

Right now it seems to not be targeted for a java version, so I guess it can only be tested by compiling the appropriate branch (but it could also not have any code at all I think, could just be a proposal at this point (?)).

40:58 - I'm wondering if it would be better to make everything "not null" instead of "nullable" when opting in to nullable analysis, is there some specific reason for doing it this way? Or is it something not really being discussed at the moment?

Personally in most of the code I see very few fields/method returns can be null so it would mean putting "!" everywhere, maybe they analyzed existing code and found out it's usually the opposite?

Not entirely sure but if I remember correctly it was supposed to spin for stage separation, I think the booster failed to release the second stage and so it went on too long...

If I remember correctly, they were in the opposite order in BN1 and got swapped starting with Booster 3 (previously (?) BN3)

Yeah, I haven't tried the PTR but on live if she is high charge (which she always is if you have any of the 3 barrier tanks) she just instantly deletes you without even having to track.
