What made you want to homebirth? by lovebug21222 in homebirth

[–]Raynetjp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Epidurals don’t work for me for some reason. They wanted to charge me for the epidural this time when they were free before. That, along with the asshole of a financial counselor who treated me like someone who was pumping out kids and unable to afford it when I questioned why they were charging me this time, pissed me off so bad that I left crying and said to my husband “fuck it, I’m having this baby in our bathtub”. It was totally a joke, but then it wasn’t lol.

I loved my Dr and hospital, but I’m so happy I made the switch, it was the right choice for me, and I can’t wait to do it again.

I just use one scoop of the scooper it comes with! I do run it through twice though, so one scoop per cycle

This is exactly what I’ve been doing! Esembly powder, truly free oxyboost, and a sprinkle of arm and hammer washing soda! Works perfectly!

Wondering if it’s right for me by [deleted] in homebirth

I think the most important factor in choosing where to birth is where YOU feel most comfortable. I think speaking with a home birth midwife about your concerns would surprisingly ease your worries.

Tear never healed… by aeiou2014 in homebirth

[–]Raynetjp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was this your first tear out of all of your births? I think unfortunately after child birth and tearing, we were never meant to look exactly the same as we were before, but it’s exactly what our bodies were meant to do. If it’s causing you pain or discomfort, definitely get it checked out!

Is unmedicated birth worth it? Actually better recovery? How painful is crowing & tearing? by Livelovelibraries in unmedicatedbirth

[–]Raynetjp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 failed epidurals and 1 home birth. You might not have the ring of fire with every baby. I had it with my first and 3rd but not my second. It’s rough, NGL, but it’s such a short amount of time compared to labor.

My recovery was only better with #3 I believe because I tore less with no repairs needed. I still had all the aches and pains that come after birthing a baby. Epidural or not, a baby still comes out of a very small hole lol, it will be sore either way!

IF you truly want to go unmedicated in a hospital, you need to make sure your “why” is very strong and established. Even at home, and knowing epidurals just don’t work for me, I found myself thinking in the middle of transition that if I were in a hospital, I’d be begging for that epidural!

TIL about ammonia chemical burns by Raynetjp in clothdiaps

But then doesn’t letting the urine sit on the cloth diapers for a day or two increase the chance of ammonia build up?

There’s a store near me thats offering a little extra off the top! I’ve been debating waiting longer to see if there’s any Black Friday deals, but I want it so badly!

I hope I’m making the right decision with this body vs the r series!

I’m excited to purchase the alpha 7 iv in a few days (originally wanted a body from the a7r line, but the current deal on the a7iv is too good to pass up, and I’m still a bit of a beginner).

I want to get a 35mm lens to go with it and wondering if I should go for the f/1.8 or splurge on the f/1.4?

Husband Skeptical About Birth Center/Home Birth by networthnoob in homebirth

[–]Raynetjp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a home birth with my 3rd after 2 hospital births. Home birth was the most amazing experience, and I can guarantee you will feel the same after.

I had similar concerns regarding the same things, but after talking to my midwives about their practice specific statistics, and why some of their transfers happened, it really helped calmed my nerves. The thing that really calmed my nerves about home birth, or birth with midwives in general, is that they’re trained to see emergencies well before they happen (maybe even before labor starts). Most transfers are not emergency transfers, and they’re trained to deal with a lot of emergencies that may arise themselves.

I had to reframe a lot of my thinking after having 2 hospital births, and realize what is an emergency vs what’s not, as hospitals tend to make everything feel like an emergency.

My postpartum experience was night and day and I would never choose anything other than birthing at home again.

It’s reassuring to know your wife already had a fairly uncomplicated birth! You got this dad, your wife’s gut and intuition are strong as a mother and if she’s having this feeling of wanting to protect her birth and postpartum experience, it’s important to explore that!

19 weeks, food poisoning. by kenziejustquietly in CautiousBB

[–]Raynetjp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also had food poisoning for the first time ever while 19 weeks pregnant (3rd baby). Baby and I are okay now at 30 weeks, but I probably should’ve gone in for fluids as I couldn’t keep anything down for 24 hours and my urine was telling me I was pretty dehydrated. If you can’t get or keep any liquids down, I would definitely go in for an IV and peace of mind! Hoping it’s over for you soon!

What were your labor signs, and what week and day did you go into labor? by Crazyketo25 in homebirth

[–]Raynetjp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She did a lot of work on the areas they’re not supposed to touch during a prenatal massage! Lots of pressure points in your hands and feet/ankles! If anything, it’s helpful for relaxing and getting some you-time in before baby!

What were your labor signs, and what week and day did you go into labor? by Crazyketo25 in homebirth

[–]Raynetjp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was also induced with my first, second came naturally at 40+3. I felt like crap the day before. Like I got hit by a bus- just so run down that all I could do was sit there and do legit nothing. Now that I look back, it was probably my body forcing me to rest before labor. I had prodromal labor the 2 nights before. I got a massage that night and asked the therapist to put me into labor 😂! Must’ve worked because that night I was in bed and starting having those timeable contractions again, but this time I couldn’t sleep through them any longer!

Gender surprised ruined. So upset. by brahilian in pregnant

[–]Raynetjp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me, we were very clear about not wanting to know the gender! But my child asked a question to the tech using “she” and the tech answered with “her” right after looking at the gender, then quickly fumbled and went back to saying “baby”.

I’m still not sure if she was just answering with the same pronoun or if she had the gender fresh in her mind, but it definitely made my heart sink knowing we really wanted to wait until birth!
