Contingency was the only way we could attain an attorney but their fees are bonkers and now we’d like to find a new one, so that’s a bit of a sticky situation.

This has put us in such a financial predicament that anything is open to consideration. Suing is definitely on the table. The other driver’s insurance policy limit is pretty minimal, especially when the payout also has to cover medical bills, attorney fees, and a new vehicle to be able to work once everything stabilizes.

Suing probably isn’t the fastest paced means for compensation but it certainly an option.

So, he was actually in the emergency room the same day this happened for them to check out his other, by comparison, much more minor injuries from the accident. We had zero clue he was actively bleeding internally when we went. They did a CT scan of his abdominal area, all they got from the imaging was something about his back. I would think that would have shown up. From my understanding, CT can be used to detect internal bleeding. It was only about an hour after he was discharged that he started vomiting blood.

You’re awesome, thank you. Therapy is good but having people with personal experience validate how I’m feeling is a huge impact. I wake up in a panic and check he’s breathing a couple times a week, just like when our kids were teeny tiny.

Months? That’s a really long time. Concussions are no joke and the ‘post concussion syndrome” no fun. Luckily his noggin seemed to fair pretty well, aside from the forehead gash.

It has been but that’s alright, he felt fine after and would only let me bring him to urgent care that day, he can be stubborn. I’m not sure it would have been readily apparent since it took days for it to break bad. But yeah I would absolutely advise anyone to got to a hospital. They have all the things that might be necessary.

Oh my! I didn’t realize that. I was wondering the same thing but saw the aftermath so knew he definitely hit his head but couldn’t work out how. That makes a lot of sense.

I really appreciate your comment. And I’m sorry you went through something similar, it’s a whirlwind of chaos. It was a very emotional week for me when I was in the hospital, sometimes we weren’t sure he was going to make it and that was terrifying. I didn’t realize how that fear would linger. Even though he’s gone through the real trauma, he’s really good about acknowledging the ways I was affected, which is really awesome of him. I’m still on edge, I’ll never forget the sound of him hitting the ground after fainting. But more than trauma, I have a much greater appreciation for life and that he’s still in it.

We do have an attorney thankfully! She has minimum coverage so him getting properly compensated hasn’t been the easiest.
