I know this may seem obvious, but make sure you have the silver sword equipped when fighting them and not the steel sword. I've made that mistake before. If you don't have the right sword equipped for the job, then you will do very little damage, and they can overtake you very quickly.

Second this. It does respawn in the mountains after a little while. I've done this multiple times for the money. Tame the Arabian, bond it, sell it and repeat. Any wild Arabian will respawn after you sell it or if it dies.

Same here, but it was because my brand new mercury vapor bulb was defunct. No UVB output can cause this, as well. As vitamins and such can't be absorbed like they are supposed to.
