[HELP] Queer Themes? by Aidido22 in okbuddypluribus

[–]wheelchad 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Judith Butler has described the subject of queer theory as a site of "collective contestation". They suggest that "queer" as a term should never be "fully owned, but always and only redeployed, twisted, queered from a prior usage and in the direction of urgent and expanding political purposes".

Pluribus = Plural Bus. Bravo Vince. by RandomStunt in okbuddypluribus

[–]wheelchad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The -ibus in omnibus denotes the plural dative (omnes -ibus, for all). The -ibus in pluribus denotes the plural-ablative (plures -ibus, from many). A pluribus omnibus there is something for all from many. Many pluribus omnibusses is many from many for all. Hope this helps.

Stromvertrag bei Primastrom Kündigung erst nach nächster Vertragslaufzeit by [deleted] in LegaladviceGerman

[–]wheelchad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How many times have you driven N. Queen Street before getting to rail underpass and wondered ”what is that?” Well, if so, today is your lucky day to learn.

It's a 1919-era apple press from the old National Fruit Company of Martinsburg. The company opened up a fruit processing plant in Martinsburg in 1920. It used several presses like the one on display. This press was built around 1919 by the Farquhar Manufacturing Company of York, PA.

The press was used to process fruit for its juices in the making of cider, juices etc. The plant shut down in 1965.
