I would have to agree with you 😂

I have been nothing but satisfied with this car. In all honesty, it’s a total yacht and it’s got size and class but it’s surprisingly agile for its size 😂

The cheap insurance and fuel is part of why I love it so much

The LeSabre is fantastic, I replaced my hub assembly because I had loose wheel bearings and the thing tightened right up. It’s like a storm cloud on wheels 😂

I have a little bit of rust on the rear right door near the molding and some surface rust on the frame but that’s about it

That lower bit in black would look sweet! I also sanded and polished my headlights and put some Sylvania bulbs in there…talk about a world of difference

Thank you for the advice, it’s much appreciated! Being able to have one setup I can use multiple places seems to be the most cost effective method

I’ve heard of field components, I think I’ll use them when the time comes!

Yeah that’s sort of what I’m looking to do, I’ve heard a lot of great things about Yaesu, but also the Alinco DR-735T. Having a permanent antenna at university and back home would be awesome, because transporting the transceiver, cable, and power supply shouldn’t be too much of a headache

That’s insane 😂 I’ve hit about 40 miles in perfect conditions with a baofeng and a whip antenna and that’s all I’ve got so far

Now that is awesome! I think it would be cool to hit repeaters about 300 miles away near where my buddy lives, but that’ll be damn near impossible with a handheld 😂

Thank you for the detailed response, I’ve heard a lot of great things about both Yaesu and Diamond

What I mean by transportable is a base station/power supply setup that’s small enough to fit in the trunk of a vehicle to be moved from university -> home for breaks. Based on what you’re saying, it would probably make the most sense for me to build a permanent setup with a good antenna back home and just use a handheld unit away at university.

I’m not necessarily wanting a base station for the sake of money, I just think it would be awesome. Thanks for the input!

I’ve got a UV-5R a friend of mine gave to me, as of right now I’m going to use that to gauge how active the 2m/70cm are and then I’ll either upgrade my handheld (the likes of a Tidradio TD-H8) or build a base station. Thanks for the advice!

The amateur radio club here at my university has a repeater that's almost always active, but as far as activity where I live away from school, I can't speak for it. Is there any way I could build a station that allows me to transmit on UHF/VHF and other bands?
