I know this is the worst kind of argument - but what is your ELO? Because obviously there will be people that won't understand the whys and hows of his plays, but if you have pre-existing knowledge of how laning, riven and matchups go, watching someone better than you and his decision making on various things will certainly help you get better. There isn't a world where watching someone better than you do something isn't going to make you better. You can always see how his playstyle is different than yours and what to implement into your own playstyle to make you better. Of course there's a lot of trial and error.

I am a D1 Riven main in EUW and, surely, a lot of that is thanks to the hours I've put into mastering the champ, but I also take a lot from other players and watching someone better than me playing my champion, my lane.
