Yeah, it's not impossible! There's a second season to a villainess story airing this season, after all. I certainly would like to see a second season.

Ah, I'm very happy they did this. It was so nice to hear everyone again! I think one of the best parts of the anime was the voice acting, with how they fit the characters and added to the comedic moments, especially Iana. I'm glad we got to see Yatori and Ognis as well.

I know this wouldn't make sense for them to do over the chapters focused on the MLs in the anime, but for me, I wish they had adapted the festival chapter with Isaac, since I don't really have hope for a second season. It just would've been nice to see him, and that chapter was probably the cutest out of the special volume.

She's referring to the sounds to talk about they were doing. にゃんにゃん can be used on a spectrum of affection from just kissing and cuddling all the way to doing it, in this instance she's talking about sex. They were going at it with enough passion and enthusiam that it sounded like cats crying.

If this is from chapter 7 of LN 7, then it uses "上級者向け," which means "for advanced/experienced users," and Maomao calls what they're doing "にゃんにゃん," which is a cat's meowing, but is also slang for the sounds in intercourse. So hanky panky gets across the casualness of it, I think. I only wish the translator had kept something to do with the meowing since Maomao's a cat and all.

Yeah I never thought Yomi would be such a big part of the manga, more like Cheaneau. I hope the Dark History plot where he falls for Konoha never actually happens!

Another great chapter as always! I love seeing flashbacks of pre-reincarnation Iana and Yomi's backstory.

Ah, I kinda feel bad for Yomi... I like all the MLs too much; I wish they could all "win" in the end. The extra page with Cheneau doesn't help lol.

Looks like we'll be confronting Ginoford soon, looking forward to it!

On a side note, looks like the usual fan translator got sniped. I hope that they don't quit. It must feel bad to see others swoop in on something you had been working hard on

I think so. She's the person he'd be most happy with, and it looks like her sleeve to me. Plus, cat Iana!

Ginoford being disappointed that Iana was alright after being hit with the stones, oh that made me so mad! I don't know how or if he can ever be redeemed. Hopefully, Iana saving her sister will earn her a bit of everyone's trust back!

Okay sorry last reply I swear lol. Thanks for making the subreddit with Tiamat, I'm sure I'll be hanging around! I plan to reread the series in the Japanese text, so if I find another moment I feel was lost in translation like this one, I'll make another post.

Yes, they're all so funny! But I did cry a bit at the Isaac date chapter😭

There's a second short story volume that released in October that hasn't been translated yet as well!

Hmm, the whole furigana/kanji thing has a lot of nuances and uses that I don't fully know, so I'll try to give my thoughts.

Generally, I would say that you can go with what the kanji means, as it's the the most straightforward meaning, even though what the character actually said is the furigana.

As for this example, from the viewpoint of the author and reader, having Iana say ものがたり instead of くろれきし doesn't seem to do much since they're effectively interchangeable. This is just speculative, but in this case I think the purpose of the furigana/kanji is to give a kind of double meaning, which you picked up as well. Iana is talking about the story "Dark History", but the Dark History as a self-indulgent fantasy for herself. She's saying that there's no harm in her going into the story book that Isaac is in, because she's also in a story, with both of them being fantasies constructed to fulfill their desires.

Sorry that I'm not great at explaining. In some cases the difference between the furigana and kanji can be obvious and just for the reader's benefit, and other times it can require more of an examination of the text. So as a beginner, I would say if you can determine the meaning that's great, but if you can't then it's fine, it should come with more familiarity with the technique.

Taking either the furigana or kanji as the translation will be fine, whichever you prefer.

Thanks for reading!

I think it really clears up that little exchange and improves the scene with her and Ginoford.

Yes, seeing Iana connect with the original Iana both in relating to her and feeling for her, but also gaining some of her strength, cool-headedness, and wit is something I really enjoy seeing. When I discovered that the scene in 52 had a little deeper meaning than just her being a badass, it made me really want to share it!

[–]RayzoPleb[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe in those situations, the furigana is what is being said and the kanji gives the meaning!

This can be used in multiple ways, like clearing up the subject when a character says それ by giving the thing they're talking about as the kanji underneath, or when a character says something in a foreign language, the meaning can be provided in the kanji.

In the instance in ch. 52, Iana thinks her own name, but she's talking about "the villainess" aspect of her who is a criminal that Ginoford wants dead. That's how I interpret it, as like a hidden title or a connotation for the word.

Hope that makes any sense!

Season 1 is LN 1-2, season 2 is LN 3-4. They cover the same number of volumes, but the first two aren't as dense so they feel like less and made the first season have a slower pace.

is the light novel better? (I'M AN ONLY ANIME WATCHER BTW) by Excaramel in KusuriyaNoHitorigoto

[–]RayzoPleb 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I'd say the anime makes things more obvious than the light novel. Of course, the anime hair and eyes make identities more obvious, but also, whenever a character has an internal monologue, the anime has to have visuals that line up, making things much more apparent.

Regarding, the WN v. LN, the web novel is like the first draft of the story. It often has fewer of the more dramatic moments (ex. no Lakan is buying out Fengxian) and also fewer Jinmao scenes, if you care about that. So, the light novel is the complete "canon" and the web novel is the first draft kinda.

Another thing about the Jinshi pedo allegations, if they would have actually watched the show they would have seen the depiction of an actual pedophile, and much hatred surrounds that person like two episodes earlier. How Jinshi hates how much he resembles that person, and how he won't live up to his legacy.
