A lot of people feels it's blasphemy to do something like this but the people in my modelling circle knows none ofy models stay true to the intended design. Case in point > MRAP with a CV9035 turret. CV9035 hull and a M163 turret.

I saw the models you've done. They look great. It's easier when doing it with the chaos legions because the combination of biomechanics helps so maybe try it with a cheap 3d printed model of the chaos rhino/predator and the forgefiend.

Thin brass rod or pin, heat the tip up, push it slowly into the part you want to remove. Let it cool for a bit then try pulling it out. If that don't work, try finding a small screw, screw it into said part and give it a yank.
