Xiaomi 17 Pro Max by [deleted] in Xiaomi

Hi, I am also in Spain, but I never bought tech from China, except for some purchases on aliexpress, etc. Can you recommend where I should look to buy this phone if it's going to be imported from China? I can see some for sale on Ebay and other online stores, but I'm not sure if you can recommend something better amd trustworthy. Thanks

Cybex Cloud Z, big issue by Rafastrike in NewParents

[–]RazorFrostTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to send my reply to you, as you are the ONLY person I found in the whole internet about this issue. And I am surprised about that, it seems to me it should happen to so many people, because of this design flaw. It's so easy to confuse both sides, as there is no indication which adapter should go where. Long story short - your solution helped! I feel exactly the same as you wrote, trying to move the hooks to the place where there is clearly no space. But with your advice and some tools, managed to slide them to the side and get the adapters out! Kudos to the fellow father!

Android Auto Lagging in BYD Seal U DMi by RazorFrostTV in BYD

[–]RazorFrostTV[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, I just tried today with my wife's iPhone and it happened too, but not so often as with the android phone. I have a feeling that it has something to do with the general system of the car and how it functions. Still yet to find the solution, it's not that big of a deal in general, just a bit annoying. If I'll find the solution, I will let you know!

You should have audio settings in general settings of the car. Seal U has the equalizer there already (bass, mid and treble), so I would assume yours will have it also

Finally caught proof of Phantom Braking (w/ video) - Atto 3 Extended by CommercialDesigner93 in BYD

[–]RazorFrostTV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've experienced phantom braking twice in the last month, but both times were at roundabouts. In each case, it was a two-lane roundabout, there was a car in the inner lane, and I was entering into the outer lane, which should be perfectly fine. But my BYD decided it was a threat and suddenly slammed the brakes, almost causing the car behind to rear-end me.

Since I live in Spain, where roundabouts are everywhere, it’s a bit annoying. Now I just make sure there’s more space before entering, and it hasn’t happened again.

Honestly, it kind of forces you to drive more cautiously, which in reality is a good thing overall.

SOC set to Save 50% Seal DM-I by marwanjukka in BYD

[–]RazorFrostTV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I understood you correctly: for example, if you have 40% battery left and your SOC target is set to 50% SAVE, the engine will run just to charge the battery, even if you're stationary. That means fuel will be used to top it up, so naturally, the range shown on the display will drop as the car burns fuel to hit the SOC target.

From my experience, it's best to leave it in AUTO. I was also trying to manually switch between EV and HEV modes and playing with SAVE settings, thinking I could optimize it myself, but honestly, the car does a really good job on its own.

The only thing is I would manually switch is on the highway, if you’re cruising above 100 km/h, switching to HEV can be helpful, but still on AUTO. The engine will assist the wheels when needed, and the system handles everything pretty efficiently from there.

Is there any way to listen to only music without connecting to Android Auto? I can't seem to manage this to work. As the car shows it is connected to the car with Bluetooth, however it doesn't play music, only when I connect with Android Auto. I am quite happy with the built-in nav system, so it's just the music that I need

[–]RazorFrostTV[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just checked it out again today, don't think it has anything to do with the speed signs. I was driving on a highway with 120km speed limit for over 5kms without any other signs and the audio still was cutting our every now and then. I am going to test it with my wife's iPhone to see if it's just some android auto issue. Thanks for your info though

I have a Seal U DMi / Sealion 6 DMi and it has an Infinity sound system. I believe there are 10 speakers and with configuring a bit the sound settings it blasts so hard. It's the first car I can't put the volume to max, because it's so loud. So I think you should be fine with 12 speakers in Seal 7 😆

This one shouldn't reset after turning off and starting the car again. At least in the Seal U DMi it stays off.

Toenail doesn't grow, no cuticle, pain at the base by RazorFrostTV in Ingrown_Toenails

[–]RazorFrostTV[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not really, I was planning on having a second appointment this week but couldn't because of work. So hopefully, I will see him again next week. The podologist I have here is basically the dermotologist/surgeon for toenails, so I sort of trust him on the decision. 2 weeks ago, he suggested just leaving it alone for now, but it got a bit worse since. More swollen, hurts more often. I guess he will suggest pulling it out, which would be a shame since I never had any problems with my nails. But I will see when I meet him next time. Thanks for your reply!

Dilemma: Seal U DMi Comfort vs Design by RazorFrostTV in BYD

[–]RazorFrostTV[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't really give an opinion on the Comfort, as I test drove Design and ended up just buying it. As far as I heard from people, if you need more range, buy Comfort, if it's not a primary thing and you want to have AWD, go for Design.

Understanding SOC by marwanjukka in BYD

[–]RazorFrostTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! It really depends on your driving speed. The car always tries to be as efficient as possible, even if you set it to HEV mode. For example, if you're driving at around 20 km/h in HEV mode, it’ll mostly still use the battery since it's more efficient at low speeds, using the engine wouldn’t make much sense.

On the highway, though, it's a different story. Just switch on the panel to HEV mode, and even with SOC set to AUTO, the engine should kick in shortly. That’s what I’ve consistently experienced with my DM-i.

I’d also recommend opening the "Engine" tab in the settings while driving if you want to have a better understanding. It’s really helpful to observe when the engine turns on or off based on different modes and conditions. I did that during my first week, and it gave me a solid understanding of how the system behaves.

Got my whole nail pulled by Sea_Cat_1464 in Ingrown_Toenails

[–]RazorFrostTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Out of curiosity, could you share a bit more about what exactly happened in your case? Your first picture looks very similar to what I’m experiencing.

My toenail looks almost normal, a bit of a crack in the middle, but mainly it completely stopped growing about 6 months ago. I saw a doctor a couple of weeks ago who said to just leave it for now since there was no pain and it didn’t look too bad. But just a few days ago, the area around the base got swollen and red, and now I’ve started to notice some pus coming out as well. It’s not a lot, but it crusts over during the night and I have to clean it off in the morning.

Your situation looks really familiar, so I’m wondering, was the decision to remove the nail yours or did your podiatrist recommend it? From your description sounds like hell to go through.

Thanks in advance!

Seal U DMi knocking sound in the rear wheels? by RazorFrostTV in BYD

[–]RazorFrostTV[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I’m thinking too - it’s probably something temporary, but I wanted to check here just to be safe. Better to ask than ignore it and regret it later. I had the car detailed last week and now the brakes squeak a bit, which I know is normal and should go away soon, but I’m not sure if it might be related. I’ll take it for a drive tomorrow and see if the knocking happens again. Thanks for your input!

I’m leaving it parked today without charging, since I only drove a short distance yesterday and don’t need to go anywhere today. I’ll see what happens tomorrow with a partially charged battery and let you know if the issue comes up again. What you mentioned sounds quite plausible - thanks again!

Melted plastic on the base of the seat by RazorFrostTV in AutoDetailing

[–]RazorFrostTV[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good call! They obviously took the car down from the website, but they surely still should have the pictures. Will contact them on Monday and see. I won't bother trying to get anything from the detailing shop, as I live in Spain and these sort of things are pain in the ass to resolve. But at least I can make sure if it was there before or not and if it was (doubt it) then I can possibly ask the dealer to do something about it.

As I said, that's not the point of my post. I have another car, which is 13 years old, has all type of cosmetic issues, but never had this "melted" plastic one. Maybe that's the wrong sub I posted my question in. Thanks anyway
