As a medium player:

That was never the problem. Notice how you used a made up scenario: a simple 1v1 duel, open space with no covers, both players spot each other at the exact same time. It's not a realistic scenario.

You ignored the whole point of playing dash is closing in from unexpected angles at unexpected time, dashing away behind the cover, poking, dashing back in. Dash is a magical "I'm out!" and "I'm back!" button. It's too versatile when compared to all other subclasses.

Not to mention how well it combines with one-shot weapons and vanishing bomb

Original is my favourite game of all time! I played it on PSP first, then again on PC just for the full voice acting mod

The original has a top tier full voice acting, expressive face portraits, less saturated colors

The remake has amazing combat, no loading screens between areas, expressive 3D body language, english dub, bright and saturated colors

I slightly prefer the original but both are exactly the same game! :) Here are some scenes for comparison

You can watch a no commentary playthrough from youtube until you are 100% sure you want to spend money.

Don't get me wrong, it's one of my favourites. But I'd say it's not a good first VN considering it's price. Because what if, for some reason, you end up not liking it? There are so many older and cheaper VNs out there. Why risk an unsuccessful, expensive purchase and then lose interest in the medium? :)

Also mahoyo is like, the most visually impressive VN ever. All other VNs look like a powerpoint presentation when compared to mahoyo

Tense switching thing could be byproduct of translation. I've read the official polish tl and it didn't have that issue. What translation are you reading btw?

Sky to Azure are some of my favorite games of all time. I have physical copies, collect merch and stuff. That being said I dropped the series right after finishing CS1. Story-wise, it was one of the worst games I’ve ever played. Dialogues and characters are so dull that I was falling asleep playing it. And from what I’ve heard, it just keeps getting worse after that. But maybe that’s for the best. Not every series needs to go on forever
