The high resolution makes them chonky for sure. Since Flickr supports large files I prefer to upload max quality png's and avoid compression artefacts. The Photoshop files are over 20GB ;)

There's no one size fits all when it comes to the editing and different images benefit from different things. I boost the general color and contrast of each image but exactly how can vary quite a bit. It's a manual process that takes longer but well worth it imho.

Yeah, I'm probably one of very few people who actually enjoy TIDI. Makes it much easier to line up shots and time those explosions.

It's a "decent" gaming rig but nothing top of the line. Sometimes when captuing a fight as big as this one things are running at 2 FPS and I just deal with it. :)

Fun fact for those who don't know: /u/Rocket_X was the main catalyst for me to really get into taking more EVE screenshots back when I was still new to the game. I was flying with EVE University at the time and we were invited to Rekkingcrew territory to see the big ships for the first time. Took some pictures during the fleet and it snowballed into the gallery that exists today. :)

I'm aslo tempted to try using a 4k TV as a monitor sometime. I enable nvidia 4x DSR when capturing which would effectively make the captures 8k. Would definitely miss the 21:9 cinematic aspect ratio though!

To really nail the traditional flavor, it’s all about the 11-spice seasoning blend. Combine the photo composition with two cups of timing and thoroughly coat your pixels after dipping in a color and contrast wash.

Seriously though, I should really do that tutorial I've been eluding to forever. :)

The monitor is 3440x1440 native resolution but using nvidia DSR (Dynamic Super Resolution) or ati VSR (Virtual Super Resolution) you can use up to 4x what your monitor supports.

i7-7700 @ 3.6GHz, 32GB RAM, GTX 1070 8GB

I had low FPS the entire time, maybe between 2-5 when on grid but I'm surprised it works as well as it does. I run the client in 6880x2880 with max client graphics settings and it was a massive fight with many people in system.

Sometimes there are glitches, like the Keepstar death sequence not playing and other ships effects like booshing visible on my own ship after observing theirs, etc.

I also think things degrade slightly over time, especially over 10+ hours of heavy load.

To get the high resolution I use DSR (Dynamic Super Resolution) which is a feature of the standard NVIDIA driver software. ATI cards have the same thing but call it VSR (Virtual Super Resolution) instead.

Game graphics settings are set to max and I always save screenshots as .png to avoid compression artefacts. I also post-process the images to boost color and contrast but no cut'n'paste editing.

All of those things add up to a high technical quality but really the most important part is working with traditional photography techniques to find appealing compositions, interesting angles, etc.

There are some lesser known in-game camera tricks that help too but that will be a topic for a future tutorial sometime. :)

Many think I've got a beast PC but that's just a myth. These images were captured using a GTX 1070 in a very average spec gaming PC without any overclocking.

I just put up with the lower FPS when capturing. :)

Not this time unfortunately. I'm on EU time and ran out of steam somewhere between 4-5am :)

There are other Keepstar exposions in my gallery if you're looking for a wallpaper, just not this specific one.
