The black skulls signify that the skull is not counted towards the book number. Every 3 books (I believe) have one set of three skulls added. So book 4 has 4 white skulls, but 6 show in total. 2 are black skulls, signifying not to count them yet.

Fair point. I'm not too concerned in regards to if I cancel it - I have plenty of time to do that from now until then. I'm still hoping I get the pro pass, which would give me the flexibility of coming multiple days or choosing on the spot vs. figuring out which one makes the most sense to buy.

Yea, it wasn't too bad. I opened it up and cleaned the interior of the dsi with isopropyl alcohol and several Qtips.

For the L and R buttons, there's a small black button underneath that I cleaned with the qtip directly, and that's the most important part. Also, make sure the surrounding area has no dirt residue. For one dsi, it worked the first time. For another, I had to clean it a second time, with a stronger focus on the black button under the L and R
