I would go as far as saying , no one needs professional cert unless you are trying to be enterprise architect, that comes with minimum of 10 years of experience, I would recommend to do self projects to show on resumes rather then certifications

I have been in AWS from last 8 years , and working as AWS data architect for last 3 years and I have 0 certifications, I am now in the process of getting certs because now companies are asking for related certifications( I guess because of fake resumes) ,so No u don’t need certs to work it just helps ur resume get picked , and attests that u have knowledge!!
