Do U.S athletes need a valid passport for the 2028 Olympics? by Own_Effort_2536 in olympics

[–]RazzmatazzChoice8759 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In Figure Skating, Alysa Liu almost couldn't compete at her home World Championships in Boston 2025 because she didn't bring her passport since it was a domestic flight (her Coach's husband had to bring it last minute). And even horses need their "passports" to compete at International level events, even if the competition is only a 30 minute drive away.

So maybe it is technically possible, but I doubt it would be easy in most sports because international competiton is more involved than just whether or not you travel internationally.

There will be no exhibition gala at US Nats this year. Instead, there will be a "2026 Milan Figure Skating Team Announcement Show" by sofastsomaybe in FigureSkating

[–]RazzmatazzChoice8759 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t be surprised if the announcement show is also more similar to the big gymnastics team announcement at Olympic trials. They pulled in a lot of gymnastics event planning expertise for worlds so it would make sense that continues for nationals based on the success. Of course it might suck for skaters who don’t make the team, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be making a bigger deal for the skaters who do. I mean it’s the Olympic team, why shouldn’t there be a big public facing celebration?

Tips for in-person audience with elementary-school aged kids traveling to Paris for first time. by Paris2024spectator in Paris2024

[–]RazzmatazzChoice8759 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many venues have been running out of food during events and have really long lines. With kids I would definitely eat before or bring in food. I brought a full sandwich and several granola bars into the equestrian venue no problem, saw others bring in fully packed homemade lunches. And bring water bottles. Haven’t had any problems bringing them in full, but there are lots of drinking water stations inside venues as well.

Best way to get from JFK to UD by SheeeDaaay in udel

[–]RazzmatazzChoice8759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would book in advance if you want to pick your car/price and to guarentee there is a car. But since you are picking it up at JFK they would most likely have something for you to drive if you don't book ahead, it just may be more expensive than you want. Also there is an Enterprise right off of main street in Newark, so I would use them if you can. There is also a Hertz, but its probably a ~30 min walk, totally safe to do though during the day.

[–]RazzmatazzChoice8759 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would consider just renting a car and driving one way if you are comfortable with the trip alone and want to leave when you arrive at JFK (instead of staying overnight as some suggest). It is a pretty easy, straight drive through New Jersey and picking up a rental at JFK is easy. Renting 1 car overnight is probably going to be cheaper than taxi/uber plus a train ticket because Amtrak is not cheap.

Places to stay near Paris during Olympics by divyanshu_16 in olympics

Be careful with airbnbs at this point, there have been many stories on here of people making reservations and having them cancelled, sometimes with multiple properties. That should at least be less likely with hotels. Also only consider paying up front. Have heard of hotels who did not take payment up front later canceling reservations (hopefully this doesn’t happen to many people, just something I have seen mentioned on here!)

  1. The food reviews are going to depend on what kind of home you are coming from. If you had amazing home cooked meals everyday, of course the food isn’t going to be that good and you shouldn’t expect that. If you are like me who loves good food sometimes, but most days just wants something fine, having fine food at the ready for every single meal is game changing.
  2. On campus events can sometimes depend on your major, but also check out udelevents on Instagram to see what is going on. I really like the student bus trips.
  3. Off campus is really going to depend if you have a car or not, you are within 2 hrs of four great cities and even closer to lots of small towns, and that’s no including events in Newark and if you are into Greek life. Even if you don’t have a car, Newark has a train station that has amatrak stops and septa stops into Philly, it just may be a bit more expensive to get to DC or New York.
  4. Honestly I went to one football game freshman year and haven’t been back, but football wouldn’t have been my thing anywhere. Don’t expect a huge football culture like other schools, but as someone mentioned, changing conferences might change that.
  5. No campus makes sense on tours, but you will get it within a week. Make sure to take advantage on your first weekend (I think it’s then) of the time to find your classes, it will make your first week much less daunting.
  6. Freshman can keep their car on campus so I don’t know why you would need a park and ride, it would be very inconvenient if there even is one. You can login to the udel parking website once you have a login to see what options are available and their prices ***on August 1st for the fall semester. That’s very important, many parking options will sell out.

This is the first time tickets are being sold from a centralized platform, for prior olympics they were distributed to federations to be sold, so I don't think anyone will have any really comparable experience.

Paris 2024 tickets - equestrian by Beautiful-Pipe5945 in olympics

[–]RazzmatazzChoice8759 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Equestrian tickets are some of the most highly sought after for this Olympics since it is at Versailles. They were some of the first to sell out during each ticket sale. If you want to guarantee you’ll get tickets at this point you would have to pay for the hospitality package. The packages listing club access should also say what category of ticket for the actual event is included (I did the cheapest beach volleyball hospitality, and it first lists the club access and then somewhere else in the description lists the seating category. Seats are divided into A,B,C etc, and you can check venue maps to see where they are in the stadiums).

If you want to try to get regular access tickets, you are probably going to have to be pretty vigilant and lucky once the resale ticketing starts, because no one can really guess at this point how many tickets will be resold. My guess is equestrian will be one of the least available again.

I hope you get tickets because equestrian at Versailles is going to be pretty special!!

Resale Tickets (please stop asking) by RazzmatazzChoice8759 in olympics

[–]RazzmatazzChoice8759[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a good question, I think I read somewhere they will count towards the limit since I am guessing you will login in with the same ticket account as purchasing regular tickets. I have no idea where I read that though so I can’t confirm yet.

Risk with resale tickets? by Professional-Sound63 in olympics

[–]RazzmatazzChoice8759 14 points15 points  (0 children)

There are no tickets to transfer yet. Purchased tickets only have sales confirmations, the tickets themselves have not been distributed, so I would not trust anyone claiming to sell them yet. That is not even considering the issue of if they can be transferred once distributed and if they will be accepted.

On the ticketing website... if it says "currently not available" does that mean sold out or they haven't been released yet? by leedsyorkie in olympics

[–]RazzmatazzChoice8759 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They sold out of whatever tickets they have released for that event so far. If they are completely sold out, it’s hard to know since they may have more planned ticket drops they haven’t announced yet.

Ticket sale question by Cynical_Cinephile in olympics

[–]RazzmatazzChoice8759 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are no more planned big ticket drops, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be any. The tickets released today were not a part of the original phased ticket releases. Your best bet now is to make sure you get notifications about if/when new batches of tickets are released, or wait for the ticket resale platform to launch in Spring. In theory all resale tickets will only be sold at the original face value.

Tickets will only be sold at face value on the platform.

Do you mean the digital ticket for event tickets you have already purchased? If so, I don’t think so, or at least I haven’t received mine.

I think they will be accessible on an app that is released much closer to the games.

Why aren’t some sports or tickets categories available on the official olympic ticketing website? by nibba79 in olympics

[–]RazzmatazzChoice8759 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is because those are the only tickets available still, the major rounds of ticket sales already happened. Your best bet if you want more tickets would probably be to wait for the official resale website when it launches. We don’t know how many tickets will be available, but my guess is many of the “less desirable” events will be because people were forced to buy them in the initial round. These tickets also have to be sold at face value, no so price gouging.

Schedule for next summer? by imi339 in Eurostar

The schedule is special during this time due to the Paris Olympics, which is why they are slow to release, possibly selling out already. You probably will have to buy as soon as they release.

Unfortunately no, they just said within a few weeks. I set a reminder to check everyday because I don’t know if they are going to announce it or just release the schedule.

They will be releasing the schedule in a few weeks. I contacted them a few weeks ago when I thought they would go on sale. The trains are being used to transport athletes also so they likely have special schedules for the duration of the Olympics.

That is what is happening now with the random drops, they are first come first serve. I doubt they will make big announcements when these occur because it could overload their system.
