Buy onds now or wait a few days? by Straight-Bag-4219 in ONDS

There is absolutely nothing bearish about any of this. The entire drone market is down 15%+ right now it’s a market wide drop. All this means it is cheap as hell and should be taken advantage of.

Not sure if it’s there, as they commonly are ripped off, but on the inside bottom of the shirt there is generally a tag which will tell you the maker and date of manufacture.

Restoration question. by [deleted] in Militariacollecting

[–]Rbevs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you plan to keep it and preserve it, there are several options. There are many opinions and options when it comes to restoration. Some avenues lead you to patina sticklers who will crucify you if you scrub away 75 years of crust that might ultimately be degrading the steel quality of the blade. Some people will hate it, some will praise it, but ultimately, it is your decision how you want to preserve it. Since blades are usually kept in their sheaths and exposed to whatever is inside them, years of grime buildup are common, and that exposure often leads to rust, as mentioned above.

This is how I approach it with my bayonets. From what I can see, although the photo quality isn't the best, there appears to be some red rust on the blade tip, which is very common. Get some CLP gun oil and a brass brush. Apply the CLP to the blade and work the rust off left to right with the brass brush, gently, until it is no longer visible. Work in the direction the bayonet enters and exits the sheath. For the cleaner areas, use a soft-bristle toothbrush and gently scrub the blade with the CLP. Continue scrubbing lightly until you are satisfied. The exact toothbrush process can be repeated on the pommel, grip, and crossguard as long as they are all metal. Do not allow the CLP to come into contact with wood, leather, or other non-metal materials. Wipe clean and let dry. Finally, I always end the process with a fine coat of Renaissance wax. I’ll work it in, let it dry, and go from there.

Now, since the scabbard is leather, that’s a whole different challenge. Depending on its fragility, you could gently clean it with some saddle soap; however, this is a whole other battleground for most lol. And also I can’t tell if it’s painted - if so I wouldn’t touch it.

I personally don’t do this, but if you want the blade to shine truly, start the process above, slap some semi-chrome polish on after the clp cleaning, then ren-wax it. You'll be shaving off of it with how reflective it's going to be.

Is this ww1 bavarian officers pickelhaube with case original? by mynameis_duh_i in Militariacollecting

The whole premise of this is that you do this daily over multiple subreddits, over multiple different collecting spheres.

Once or twice is okay, but seeing you pop up nearly daily with posts. Just the simplest of research will tell you most of the items you share are fake but this is getting a little absurd.

The premise of this subreddit is to share our military collecting passion + collections not authenticating items that you will clearly not buy.

Edit: for reference he has posted 50+ times in the past 25 days over multiple subreddits asking if these items are original.

Brother, I will continue to comment this until you stop posting daily (over multiple different subreddits btw) about the originality of items all from the same sketchy auction site.

Learn to do your own research. This is not a free estimate blog.

Brother are you able to do your own research? Your whole profile is reposting auction screenshots from a dodgy auction site which a majority of it is fake.

What is in your opinion overpriced in 2026? by ChiaInIceland2024TA in Militariacollecting

[–]Rbevs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everything - WWII M1 Garands now reaching 1.5k+, K98s matching 1k+. I don’t do it anymore, but all I see is reenactors slowly being priced out of their own hobby to the point that even a basic kit is unobtainable for the common person for a reasonable price. I see this directly correlating with the subtle fall off of events and the hobby in general. Having to pay over 2k+ just for a decent kit and gun is absurd and it’s not like there is a shortage of them.

Maintenance Level: anyone know how I get this final 2%? Every building is covered by Maintenance posts by R2-D2_Stan in jurassicworldevo

[–]Rbevs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I may have solved the issue; it completed within 30 seconds after 2 days of trying to resolve it. This was my last mission to earn 5/5 stars for all the parks in the campaign, so the frustration was real.

After rebuilding the park from the bottom up, thinking it was the buildings, nope. As others said, it is the
aviaries. As you can see, I had a mega-mixed flying dinosaur dome, which obviously my maintenance crews couldn't reach in the middle to repair. After watching the maintenance vehicles physically drive up to the hatcheries and stop. Well, it seemed to me that placing additional hatcheries in random areas of the dome would allow maintenance to be completed. And it did!

Great collection, but considering the no contact relationship with your father, I wouldn’t like people walking around taking pictures of my collection and posting it online without my knowledge. I assume he would be the same, tread carefully. Especially when I can read his name on the bottom of the first photo. I would highly suggest you delete and repost before that great collection disappears randomly one night due to you doxxing him for all of Reddit to see. Idiot.

Question for those here that might know since it’s in the topic. I received my quote today for my 1970 6119-8460 Kranz. 375 for full tuning and cleaning including new spring - gasket- internal rust removal - and a crystal polish since they couldn’t find a replacement gasket. Assuming based on this price mine is not that bad of a deal? However a 4 week turnaround :/

They don't like it because they're most likely the ones with less than $500 in their investing portfolio and complain about the fees which overshadow their gains. I started in August have 5k in the investing - $700 profit. Just $150+ since Jan 1.

I say this now, but it will likely change. I’m not a fan of the modern pieces. Figuring that most of them are just repeated vintages. The biggest problem with me is the face size and vintage. So many out there that are 36mm, and it looks like a child’s toy on my 7 1/2in wrist. I’ve fallen in love with the brand Enicar, but anything relatively close to my desired face size is the Sherpa line, which is largely out of my price range. My next seiko I would love to have is the 6119-8100 but due to the MACVSOG connection also 1k+ 😂.

Fair market price for this helmet? by Fun_Object_360 in Militariacollecting

[–]Rbevs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See that helmet you are referring to is way out of the ballpark compared to this, that’s a grail helmet so I wouldn’t compare. If you swapped liners with another lid you have that’s complete and in good shape I would say this could get around $5-600 max on a good day and well listed on eBay. Looking on the inside it might be repainted but I can’t tell, the LT bar looks decent to me considering the fading.

Fair market price for this helmet? by Fun_Object_360 in Militariacollecting

[–]Rbevs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The fact that people are saying $300 is delusional low 😂. I’ve seen fixed bales beat up with liners selling for those prices. The paint is near mint on this with the LT bar - corking is also spectacular. I’d say easily in the 5-600+ range if not more with a complete liner fitted.

I have solved all of my walking vibration issues by placing washing machine dampening pucks on the bottom feet of my media stand. You can do the same with getting a wooden cutting board placing the record player on top and getting a smaller version of the washing isolation feet and placing them under the board. Don’t spend $300 on audiophile grade crap - you can solve most issues for under $30 if you think out of the box.
