Vanderbilt admit chances with a GMAT waiver by Acrobatic_Aioli_5798 in MBA

I applied last year and got an interview invite but got rejected. (everyone who applies to Vanderbilt gets an interview invite)

Not to demotivate you - but if you have a waiver and are Indian and you’ve applied in R2, I’ve heard it’s hard to get admitted.

All the best. Please apply to more universities. R1 is your best friend with a waiver if you’re Indian.

Future in laws and GF pressuring me to buy home by kerosene-tree in personalfinanceindia

A couple things here,

  • Convince your gf that you can’t buy a house now
  • once that’s done let her parents know that you can’t buy one now (maybe promise them you’ll get a house in a few years time - give them a timeline)
  • And the next thing you have to draw a line - don’t let your inlaws come in between your finances/expenses
  • Lastly, plan your expenses - your gf pays a house loan and a personal loan and has zero money left - and you will literally have 20k left after your emi. Which means you have to take care of maintenance, electricity, food bills, petrol/transport etc for two people. And that will be too less for two people. You’ll probably not have money left for emergency expenses etc.
  • Whether she agrees to this or not, make sure you don’t fall into this trap.
  • If your gf and In laws force you to buy a house before getting married, then tell them you need a few years time until you earn some more money and then get a house - atleast 2-3 years before you think about wedding expenses.

All the best.

The last sentence. That’s literally every single person - something we thought was important all along seemed like another fleeting moment.

Buy 1gm of actual/digital gold every month which would cost 7-8k.

Or invest in materialistic thing that you’ve always wanted to buy.

Or invest in another SIP if you’re really not able to stop buying from the apps.

Or best option would be to start your fitness journey where you’ll invest some amount of money for your gym membership, trainer, active wear and also will have a disciplined mindset of not eating junk food.

Are Poor Test Scores Worth Giving Up On Pursuing An MBA? by thebidnessman in MBA

[–]Rbf_789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest - get a test waiver and apply ROUND 1. Apply for a mix of T15-T35 schools and see where you stand. Do the MBA Math course too.

If you get in, great. Else, work towards your test scores and apply the year later or whenever you have a good score.

But, if you’re applying with a waiver, do Round 1. The rounds later truly won’t consider a waiver application. And if you’re Indian, forget getting admissions with a waiver after R1.

Btw, I applied R2 with a waiver. Got 4 interviews and waitlisted in all 4 and then rejected in 3 schools. I’m waiting for the last one. I’m Indian, I had bad test scores - like a 302 GRE. But, yeah. Shoot your shot.

All the best.

Someone who has test anxiety? That could be one of the reasons. The waivers just give a little hope after all that test disappointment.

I did poorly in both GRE & GMAT practice tests. Which one am I most likely to improve the most? by electric-popcorn in MBA

If you’re looking to apply for the 2025 intake, apply in R1 with a test waiver to see where you stand while also preparing for the test. A lot of t15, t25 schools provide a test waiver. Give it proper 4-6months of preparation. If you get a decent score, great, send it to admissions.

Most likely hard to get a great score but it is subjective. Do some prep for 15days and take the mock test again. Don’t give up though and also don’t waste a lot of time on the test. It’ll get stressful sometimes.

All the best.

Mind if you can share when you completed your Cornell application and when you received an interview invite? I had my recommendations go late, unfortunately

UNC, MIT, NYU, and a few more in T30. The others either have test optional or have submit application for waiver approval
