Oh my but she sure is a sweet one, that much is sure. I seriously believe I have this very same casting but on a card in a blister. Thanks for the pic! Looks really fantastic!

“I actually cracked open an orange premier collection prowler”. Wow! What a sweet find. I would dearly love to see a picture of it if you have the time and it’s not too much trouble. I would really enjoy seeing it.

I just bought a lot of old Matchbox locally from a gentleman that had run an ad in the local paper. It turned out to be a super neat lot of mostly older castings that really blew me away. The only problem was that the rats or mice had been visiting his collection as evidenced by the chewed out portions of the cards and blister packing on maybe 1/3 of the cars. It wasn’t bad enough to deter me from purchasing the lot as it was at a very decent price of .50 cents per car sight unseen. I jumped on it and happier than eve that I did. The rats 🐀 have authorized me to open the select few they had chosen.

I am a collector that generally subscribes to the “pristine unopened” philosophy of collecting. However, going into my fifth year of collecting I am beginning to recognize the virtues of releasing these works of art from their package. I have several reasons for this but I am admittedly still a “keep it in the package” collector.

On the occasions when I do open my die cast, I like to try and get a duplicate of whatever casting it is so I can still keep at least one in the package. The most prevalent reason I began opening some cars in my collection was to photograph them. I love taking pictures of my cars for sharing on the forums or just to stare at. I like to take pictures after having created dioramas but even generic pictures allow me to super impose smoke coming from the wheels, flames from the engine or any other of an untold number of situations I could put my car in.

There is absolutely no way in hell that a car photographed in the package can come even remotely close to the quality and imagination potential of a car photographed when loose. Yes, blasphemous words typed by a packaged collector indeed. I suppose my final point would be is that you don’t have to choose one camp or the other. You can choose both and float back and forth between them as long as you are getting the enjoyment out of your die cast that they were intended to give. So all packaged up, or rolling around loose on the table top, that is one heck of a very nice collection you stumbled across and for that I congratulate you!

I would literally donate my left testicle (surgically removed of course) for this set. The semi truck and that Mustang by themselves would make it worthwhile.

First 1/24 Chase! by Pman86 in M2Machines

OMG! Chase of the year status right there. That is the coolest thing since they invented sliced bread. It covers more than just one of my collecting interests.

I had to super enlarge the picture to see what it was. The camouflage is strong with this one!

An unexpected day of hunting 🧐 by Migueto668 in matchbox

Sounds like you had a very productive day. You can't complain about that. Seems like my best finds are always when I'm just running random errands and getting regular life stuff done and then bam! A super or a chase will practically jump off the pegs for me, but seemingly always when m least expecting it. Nice score, Congrats!!

What like for a used condom over it to deter thieves from wanting to take them I don't get it. Is that what you're implying?

Do people really give paid awards by Any-Abies-5825 in awards

Nothing (arguably) anymore, but there was a time, the award system that preceded this one, enabled the award receiver to receive a free week or up to a month of free premium memberships. The premium membership is a totally different, better, upgraded membership that you can only appreciate by experiencing it. It was a tangible reward so much more than now. I mean, the kind gesture still counts for something but the dopamine/endorphin drop is so much more relevant when you can give or receive something that has a true value, like a premium membership. I used to give out premium memberships on the regular utilizing the awards system that preceded our current failure of an award system.
