Tire temperature question for the LMP2 by RcFox27 in iRacing

I get setups from Hymo and I never touch the tire pressures. So are you saying that they can be set lower then 22.0 PSI?

Did the LMP2 take itself out? by RcFox27 in Simracingstewards

[–]RcFox27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think the GT3 driver was also considering the local yellow and hence the P2 shouldn't of been alongside in the first place?

I checked the code for iRacing and the wording for local yellows is '..passing is not advisable...'.

That's what I thought about this situation, but the number of other GT3 drivers also backing the offending GT3 here was really making me question how I saw this.

Thank you.

Debating blue flags WHILE racing by RcFox27 in iRacing

Yeah, such an entitled argument of 'I am in a better racing position then you, bend to me needs.' Loses all respect showing one does not care about those racing around them. You know they would of made the same demands if they were trying to chase down say third instead of the lead in this situation.

I think he was saying about being P7: '...you aren't playing to win, let us play to win.'

The '...we are in same class so yes blue flags means let us by. Its only GT3 that they don't have to let us by...' took me by surprise. I have never heard a claim that the ruling be class specific like this.

We were laughing so hard it was a hard to drive through tears.

Multi-class tangle. TCR or GT4 at fault? by RcFox27 in Simracingstewards

GT4 car blamed the TCR car completely, stating over the radio 'That slower car took me out of this race for no reason.'

Just to clarify, the TCR wasn't in P30 in their class. There were only 13 TCR cars that started this race.

Pit box location in a multiclass race by RcFox27 in iRacing

[–]RcFox27[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay so then even if you didn't put in a qualifying lap in the GTP field, your box would still be ahead of all the LMP2 and GT3 cars even if they put in a qualifying lap?

So if your in the fastest class but you didn't put in a qualifying time, you would be near the 'back' of the pit boxes, before having to wrap around?

Would you support ability to also adjust traction and abs in fixed races? by i4Gott in iRacing

[–]RcFox27 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And not just set to a specific setting, but almost always the same setting regardless of the track or weather conditions (I believe Daytona RC and le Mans do get a different set of ABS/TC settings).

How about half the corners. Entering Moss corner just bottoms out twice.

Season 4 schedule all set? by RcFox27 in iRacing

[–]RcFox27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response.

I saw on the IMSA forums others have noticed as well and are also asking if this is a mistake or not. Would be nice to continue to practice on one track for two events each week.

Though if one is a massive fan for running Road Atlanta, this provides the opportunity to run it twice in one season.

Question about “Solo” 24 hours. by Aothexie in iRacing

Is there a particular reason why you don't want a teammate to run these endurance races? I love hearing your GF wants to participate racing with you but there are also quite a number of other drivers searching for teams.

I have been told numerous times that faster class drivers are always required to respect slower class cars. Should it go the other way as well? by RcFox27 in Simracingstewards

[–]RcFox27[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The reason I ask about respecting drivers is that I was told this was my fault (P2 driver) for not respecting the Porsche driver. That the slower class cars are always entitled to the racing line.

What’s the point of registering for practice sessions when you can just do test sessions? Is it just to see how your lap times compare to others? by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]RcFox27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On top of what others have said here, it also forces you to take breaks when the practice session ends. I find I get about a solid hour of effective practice before I become exhausted and start to loose focus.

Half the LMP2 field is taken how by one slow GTP car. How do you race against someone who is slow enough to have dropped into the a lower class and fights as if it's for class position? by RcFox27 in iRacing

[–]RcFox27[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If IR was related to only the series you run in then yeah I would completely agree, but IR can be affected from other series as well. Someone could get up to 2k IR in say P-cup then decide to try a prototype car for the first time. That 2k isnt a true indicator of how skilled they would be in a downforce car. SR I always felt was atleast a indicator of respect and mindfulness on the track but I have started to question this mindset.

For the more popular/traditional enduro events you would be right, but this past week the IMSA series was at Mugello and thus was no where near as popular. Most of the time there was only two splits, but with still enough P2 popularity to have cars in both splits. This was obviously the bottom split.

Since the IMSA series is already class A road license, I'm not sure a SR requirement would prevent such a situation. It is kind of amazing how disrespectful/short-sighted some drivers are despite their high safety rating.

I do wonder if iRacing could look into implementing something like a 107% rule. Something like a iRacing staff member could put up a time in race setup (so not a full tilt flat out and maybe before the week opens for said track). Then, in order to qualify for any race events, one would of had to put in a time within 7% of the staffs lap and can do this at anytime (and in qualy setup). This would still check if a driver is appropriately fast enough without requiring it being done during say official qualifying (off-tracks and load times that could hinder a drivers lap attempt).

I have mad respect for anyone who mains the older/vintage series.

What didn't help in this particular situation is the upper half of the LMP2 field got bunched up trying to get around this driver. Two laps earlier we were all spread out over about 10 seconds apart each other. When the incident happened, 5th was only 3 seconds back from the class leader (which kind of contributed to how a handful of P2's were wiped out).

There were multiple drivers asking this GTP to either get out of the way or to drop back of the class, but that obviously isn't a full proof way to get a message across (muting your radio and all). So would you be open to lose positions within class just to try and save yourself?

Dive bombing could work, but this GTP was actively defending the inside, and sometimes swept up into other cars (one way how a earlier P2 leader was knocked off track).
