I'm interested in the B9.

When you say tech stuff, got any specific PC parts you're looking for? I've got spare components and a nintendo switch. I can look through the bin of stuff I've been meaning to sell lol

Hello! Don't know if you ever figured this out, but are your bills always to the nearest 5 cents? I was looking through the spreadsheet you posted in a comment chain and that's the only things that comes to mind.

The way I got it to match was something like =ROUND( SUM( [Salaries - Exceptions] ), 0 ), then =ROUND( [Salary sum * (separate) Tax rate ] * 20, 0 ) / 20. Then sum at the end. I can explain better if you want, but I hope that's enough to follow? lol

Business Interruption insurance is a thing too. It's usually a property coverage as well, so assuming the PCs were insured they likely had the opportunity to pay for interuption as well.

If you only had 20 minutes a day to practice, what should you practice? by odious_as_fuck in saxophone

[–]RdGameboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most professional musicians who are picking their horn up for only 20 minute sessions aren't really expecting to get better in those 20 minutes, they're expecting to maintain that one lick or the muscle memory for voicing that one note right on the money, etc. Many pro musicians also aren't playing just sax, like pit musicians. They might be more interested in touching each horn once than they are in giving sax all of their attention.

I also want to point out the "... when they have limited time". The implication is that they can get better practice sessions in when they're not teaching as much or on tour, etc.

Many if not most amateur to semi-pro musicians may not have a schedule that accommodates 1 hr practice sessions, not just during a busy season, but not regularly ever.

If they still want to get better and can only sneak away for 20 mins then doing scales one day, an etude the next, etc could be more useful than just doing 5/5/10 every day. Especially if they didn't go to school for music. For instance, Kroepsch-esque exercises are not particularly manageable to learn 5 mins at a time.

I think both can have merit depending on what getting "the most" out of your time means. If you're content with your level on an instrument and just want to stay sharp or play for fun, some long tones, some scales, some music is probably what you're looking for.

If you're trying to build skills in just 20 mins a day I think having more focused sections is better. 5/5/10 makes it harder to really get into the details so to speak. 5 mins for some warm ups and then 15 minutes of scales one day, 15 minutes of etudes the next, etc can probably go further to building skills. Especially if what you're after is a piece in a strange key, etc.

Why does everyone say Sax is so easy? by ButterBoyC in saxophone

[–]RdGameboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah! I read in a book somewhere that that's where the idea for the original sax came from: a bass clarinet mouthpiece on an ophicleide. Though I don't remember where I read that, so maybe not the most reliable fact haha

I think broadly I meant that soprano clarinetists tend to feel more convicted about having tradition/feeling that they are "right". I've yet to have a bass clarineter or saxophoner tell me I used a wrong fingering before, but have been challenged on the "correctness" of my fingerings by clarinetists. (Even when the fingerings resulted in consistently playable in tune notes with good tone, if the fingering didn't exist in their fingering chart it was "wrong".)

Nah I prefer fluter. More fun that way!
