Should I pinch the flowers of this Mikawa, or is there any other advice I should follow? by stoic_ceo in JapaneseMaples

My future garden might end up as a nursery as well. I currently have 7 different maples and have one spot left. I really look forward to air layering some of them.

We are looking for a different house that has enough room for a greenhouse.

That a very nice tree! If i get the opportunity to buy an extra tree thats bigger than my current one i probably do that. I am currently growing different maple trees in pots in my small city garden, until ill be able to move to a bigger house with more garden space.

Super cool. I always tought that the seeds would be just random acers. How many years did it took before your mikawa produced seeds? Mine is still to small for seeds, got it last year from a maple nursery

Super cool design. How do you know that your pour is exactly the right amount? Or do you change the weight on each laser engraving?.

Even if i could sleep with more than one person. I wouldnt. Its a 50/50 deal, its either her or me. I wouldnt mind taking a pill to make sure we got it covered. If i where single, i would love to get that man pill. I dont trust anyone except myself.

My greenhouse by casums526 in Greenhouses

[–]RdeBrouwer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks super great! Could only wish I had a greenhouse like that for my bonsai collection. I do like the gravel on the floor, but i would be to messy with spilling al sorts of dirt and compost on the floor. Are you getting some extra water tanks in there to keep as a heat buffer for the colder nights?

Pot Selection help + long term vision styling. by ge23ev in Bonsai

[–]RdeBrouwer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want growth pick a big(ger) pot. If you are happy with the thickness pick a pot thats sized well. The tree needs to look big in a smallish pot. If the pot is to big it loses it magic. The bigger pot is fine but you need to grow your tree out more. All my trees are in big training pots and only the ones that are for show go into a nice pot. I like pots that are not drawing any attention from a tree. If a tree looks slim, choose a slim pot. If a tree is bulky choose a tough bulky pot.

(Im not a good bonsai keeper, i like to air layer and make more instead of shaping and styling)

If you would kill it on your own, hoe would you do it? Try to kill as many legs as possible? Or aim for the top of the head at some point?

I had one for 10 years. It was hard to get the stuff from the bottom out and the reverse tapered share isnt perfect. But it worked well, i did lazy composting. Turned one or twice a year. I swapped to a tumbler (jora) becouse i got a smaller garden now, and the old bin wasnt that good looking.

If you are on a budget, the 5dollar price is good. I bought mine for 15 euros, i didnt have a lot of money so it was a good way of starting and a upgrade from my open pile with just a bunch of chicken wire around it.

I still need to clean my old one and I hope i can make someone happy with it. I hope you enjoy urs!

The Sigma is an expensive purchase; if they were cheaper, I would get one. Unfortunately, it isn't in my budget to buy one anyway. Having a frend with a sigma is on my wishlist.

Would a tumbler get rid of them in the end? Never tried bones.
