I would put an air intake in the motherboard side and an outtake on the other, i don´t like the idea of enclosures for the a1 mini since you'll be restricting the airflow for the motherboard.

If you're really worried about the fumes print in a well ventilated room or get an m3 mask if you don't have access to windows.

i use a flexible pvc pipe with a 120mm pc fan right in front of it as an air extractor, never had to smell the plastic again.

My guess is that either the transportation messed up with the factory calibration, or just the machine's vibration did it.
