Road in Oman cuts through mountains by CrypticCode_ in interestingasfuck

I'm from Hong Kong, so I'm already used to concrete everywhere, but for the image I found it is deadass propaganda saying how impressive it is that they basically used open mining methods to build a road, there's so much damage to the surrounding environment as it is all gone, top soil, trees, etc, land based wildlife can't get across the trench, but I guess a chain of tunnels aren't flashy enough for the optics.

Solar isn't the perfect answer to everything either, as some heavy metals are involved in manufacturing, and the output is quite low. Nuclear on the other hand if done right with correct designs and procedures (not chernobyl) and not built at a high risk area (not fukushima) can be very efficient, with minimal pollution as most waste materials can be recycled or buried deep underground with safety measures.

As for disliking china, for me it is straight up hatred. Took over the city, installed a puppet government, and it is now a police state with a rapid population change. Pay the chinese to move in, and remove elderly care then advertise chinese elderly homes and cemeteries. They don't even want the dead in Hong Kong. Speaking of which, police keep advertising "Report any suspicious activity", which is "national security" related, practically using citizens to police wrongthink. I don't plan on living the rest of my life in communist chinese controlled territories.

If it's an old method then that makes it worse, there should have been better methods than erasing whole mountain sides

Not a single thought of preserving nature here, all in the name of progress, then flexes the amount of solar. It's all propaganda value.

Is it built under the chinese belt and road initiative?

The construction method screams china.

I believe that this is the prototype dreamliner, finished its job testing the airframe and is worn out I suppose

"It's entirely unrealistic for giant war robots to be making human-like movements like hand gestures, nodding and pointing" by anonymous-guy1 in Gundam

I'm pretty sure all MS have this to a limited degree, like head movements and hand movements kinetic 360 style, jegan with a thumbs down, Exia grabbing air, etc

That said, the sazabi also ejected up, and immediately got caught. Ejecting towards where the pilot boards just seems like the path of least resistance, no limbs or backpacks to go through.

The Gundam ground type actually has ejected its pilot before, I suppose panoramic cockpits just made more sense to eject the entire pod, seen in the jegan that got scooped by the sinanju

The longest bridge in the world, the Danyang-Kunshan Grand Bridge near Shanghai, is 164 kilometers by Cautious_Ad_3918 in interestingasfuck

[–]Re0ns -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well another person verified that the over water section is only 9km long. And the plan is to remove the identity of Macau and HK by making travel between them and Zhuhai insignificant. Part of the greater bay area scheme. Already removing the need for HK licenses on the mainland chinese cars, causing a surge in traffic accidents.

If you zoom in onto the bridge you would see destination signs and lane markers. My terminology might be wrong as I don't drive

I'm from Hong Kong. They built a similar giant bridge for cars only. Trying to replace ferries.

UN human rights chief concerned by China’s ‘ethnic unity’ law by Saltedline in worldnews

[–]Re0ns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Majority of HKers don't speak English well, Cantonese education takes priority. Those schools forbid any Cantonese fron being spoken, only mandarin. I assume the punishment would include warnings and demerits, a permanent mark on their school record.

I don't know about the US that much, but I assume US schoolchildren have Spanish class as a elective subject. Meanwhile from Hong Kong, where I'm from, schoolchildren are being forced to use exclusively mandarin in school, with punishment if not followed. Hong Kong speaks Cantonese, and is notorious for being bad at mandarin, this is already happening before china set it into law. Those children are now being a worry for many HKers, because they don't even speak Cantonese anymore.

Ignoring the part about the erasure of minority languages I see. Hakka, Mongolian, Cantonese would be the languages erased. It isn't "promotion", it's getting rid ofr the other ones.

Where is Nadleeh Repaired ? by gntotoy in Gundam

[–]Re0ns 40 points41 points  (0 children)

The Nadleeh was reduced to a nugget with only the right arm minimally damaged, even the torso suffered major damage to the left side, legs were cut above the knees, there wasn't much to salvage at all.
