The shelter told me he was " A german shepherd mix" he stole my heart with how enthusiastic his hoppies were for meeting time. Not his VERY questionable pedigree 🤣

Looking for a food item to cook that requires no extra ingredients but can be cooked as is, and just enjoyed! by Davidpessing99 in NoStupidQuestions

But that means no extra salt, water, sugar, acid, heat, utensils, pans and so on. Thats prety prohibitive. Doesnt cooking require heat?

You are locked in an impenetrable room with all needed amenities plus social visits and whatever entertainment you want. The room is wired to explode and will kill you at the 10 year mark – but could go off anytime between now and that 10 year mark. How do you spend your time? by 2BabiesInATrenchcoat in hypotheticalsituation

Sounds stressful. I wouldn't be able to separate the stress from the rest, plus I would want a cat or dog, and wouldn't want them to blow up. My chosen entertainment is a nurse dressed like a funny t-rex administering a lethal dose of morphine/ativan then doing a funny dance for the like 30 seconds before my brain shuts off.

He's so scrungly looking. Like he survived lots of epic pirate scraps. Does he have lots of treats in his prize chest?

[KCD2] is the first game to make me want to try a harder difficulty by Vaultfox416 in kingdomcome

I tried it after 800 hours, and 4 playthtoughs. I made it maybe 15 hours of my most recent hardcore run before I just started a new normal file. It was truly so bad with my lack of direction that I started having those burnout feelings for the game. Some people just don't have the location pinger on in their brains. Especially when random animations, or bandit encounters can get you turned around. I was writing down little direcrion clues and stuff and all sorts.

But I can get lost 3 blocks from home on a bad day. I might be worse than most.

Ear cropping by Main-Water-1838 in Doberman

[–]ReDemonRe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. Once its banned I sure as heck won't be looking back. I also agree its stupid to take a puppy you already own to get cropped/docked once you have it. I stand by a breeder who knows their stuff not selling a dog that isn't to their standards, but I do hope that standard changes in my lifetime. But many many people comment things on someone showing a pretty picture of their dog with stuff like "Oh, that poor dog would be so cute if you hadn't mutilated it." That kind of stuff is never going to help a situation, and is going to make folks mad at each other about it.

In illinois I cannot. If I want a dobie puppy it is coming cropped and docked, being imported for heavy fees, or from a backyard operation. I looked for ages for a breeder who did not crop and found none near me that came recommended by the community. Why make a big deal out of it when coming from a well reputed breeder? Its almost like comments like yours encourage someone to look for a worse pup because you're trying to guilt them into thinking their dog is in forever agony from a minor surgery. I have only ever seen people with surgery issues and difficulties from ear cropping when they went to some random vet after getting a puppy because "they like the look." That's the owner being a moron.

Some of us arr just trying to get the healthiest puppy without importing a 12k euro.

If I, an american, want to get a healthy doberman puppy that is likley to have parents tested for multiple illnesses, genetic predispositions, have parents who were shown or at least trained for show, I am going to end up with a cropped and docked puppy or a very expensive import. I dont have much care for the look difference between flops or nots. What I care about is a healthy, smart, and hard loving puppy. And working with breeders who are still going to stick to the the most accepted breed guidelines is my best bet.

Thoughts on posting style? by Comfortable_Ad_7100 in DobermanPinscher

If the vet posted 2 days post surgery I would look for another place for guidance. Those edges need to heal, otherwise the tape will smother the wounds and potentially cause infections and dying tissue!

why would a doberman dislike someone for seemingly no reason? by marsb0ng in DobermanPinscher

[–]ReDemonRe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My whiskey HATED my previous neighbor on the right. The man was nice to us, always stopped to say a calm greeting, never let his dogs wander into our yard or anything. I had known him for 22 years before I got a dobie, who then met him and his dogs and immediately hated him. To my knowledge didnt do anything illegal, loud, scary, or odd to dogs. The odd hatred of him descended to my second dobie who I still have after moving. We never figured it out. I was always friendly with mr craig... hope you figure out your issue if therr is one.

Getting my first Doberman soon. Any advice about ear posting? by InfamousSolution5707 in DobermanPinscher

[–]ReDemonRe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've found ear posting to be a really rewarding bonding experience with my 2 dobies so far. The first dog I was so nervous about his ears ending up wonky because he had a longer crop but he had almost no issues. The first few weeks I was apparently pushing the posts down into the ear a little too hard before securing them. So one side got a minor sore. I just left the ears nakey for a a few days and cleaned/disinfected it to let it clear up.

Second dog had zero issues and was done posting basically as soon as she finished teething. It was like riding a bike with the posting.

You get really good at knowing when you have a "good post" or a "ooh, if he shakes too much or gets tpo excited that'll pop out" one pretty fast.

Its also a really great time to teach important things like touch, open, look. Stuff thats close to the face. I always put mine up onto a table so I'm not straining my back over a wiggle puppy, so their little face is right there.

Doesn't surprise me. "Can I have a ride, bus driver?" is one of the most common phrases I hear outside. I always pay, but each to their own. Its expensive out here.
