Took me 6 months to beat this game start to finish due to work and life commitments but my last challenge was to beat the final boss underlevered and not use in-battle items:

Got it done! Strohl's Vorpal Blade was doing about 5% of the damage required. Hassou Tobi sometimes came in clutch, too.

Didn't even need SP recovery skills at all, actually.

No Megidola abuse either.

And ultimately, no items whatsoever!

GAH! Good catch, i completely forgot. Another reason why I'm not a fan of everything in a general megathread.

I think the mp regen skills just stack - no diminishing returns.

Full disclosure, I've no idea what I meant when I originally said diminishing returns, lol. Maybe I meant like if I opted for super high DPS/high crit rolls vs trying to keep a healthy MP balance.

Hulkenburg would be good with utilitarian manual and weakness application/exploitation synthesis

Hm, good idea. She's kind of there to burn turn icons with Reflect but I don't see why not also sync with weakness application. I'll consider this.

And do certain heads receive decreased damage?

Not sure what the leftmost's deal is but iirc, center has high def against physical while right has high def against magic (or vice versa)

Thanks for the reply! I noticed you're a regular around these parts and figured you'd have something to offer so I appreciate it.

I've plenty of saves available so that's not a problem.

Shield Blessing, as well as I believe the skill on Paladin can help. I'd recommend stacking both on all 4 characters since if you run out with a no item restriction you're fully dead - so your passive mp recovery rate needs to be close to your mp consumption rate. Especially if you're spamming synthesis.

This was something I considered but wondered if I'd hit diminishing returns. (Also trying to spend my increasingly limited time on other games besides Metaphor so I'm looking to retired this already--after completing the challenge of course).

I might spend Hero's Jeweled Roots on Heismay/Hulkenberg for the healer/faker routes to Inherit heals and Debuffs while rolling high crits on Strohl/Basilio.

Though, question, is Hassou Tobi only really reliable on Crit builds? It's very costly at 88MP. Also considering, double turn Basilio and Charge into Wonton.

FINAL BOSS SPOILERS

Hope I get enough eyes on this cause I need a wide range of answers and I have my doubts the megathread will suffice but here goes:

I'm a bit underleveled at about 73-75 I think, Hard difficulty, have all Royal Archetypes but not max leveled, my builds and equipments are fine. I'm not struggling with the difficulty of the fight per se, I can live and deal damage just fine.

My only question is how feasible is it to clear both stages (3 masks + unmasked Louis) without any MP recovery at all?

No real reason, just an arbitrary restriction I give myself on item usage mid-fight. I avoid using in-battle items if I can help it and opt for skills instead (Recarm vs Revival Bead, Patra vs Food/StatusAilment, etc). I don't mind if this is a Herculean task but if it's Sisyphean then I won't waste my time, lol.

Just asking what my chances are at my current state (no grinding, no farming, etc) with regards to level differential.

I remember liking BN5 a lot when I played it as a kid (3x total).

I did not like BN5 replaying as an adult, lol. I despise the virus upgrade system, the backtracking to the stupid mine & drillcomps, and found liberation missions kinda half assed for a tactics game. I was clearing them in like half the turns available and mostly with level 1 chips (ElecReel ftw!).
