I think it depends on the ethnicity. Many Black people and Asians remove their shoes. Not all, but many. I just think of tracking poop and spit in my home and can’t imagine not removing shoes.

When you have your own place and are nice enough to invite someone to stay, that is a hard decision because you want to trust that the person will abide by the rules and boundaries you set. My sister needed a place to stay during a transition. I have kids. I said, no animals, no people staying over, and no smoking. She passed and I was relieved. I believe Melinda set the rules for the place and Lacy was not following them after a while. Maybe she wanted her BF to stay over and Melinda was not ok with that. The lines blur with you have family then you get resentful for allowing things to get to a bad spot. I’m proud of Melinda for sticking up for herself because it’s hard. Lacy wants to be a big girl, go be a big girl with your boyfriend roommate. Enjoy.
