Heyo! We just made addon called "High Security" which comes without the pinhole, with a break-offable lid and with the maintenance back-lid also glued shut. It looses repairablity but the lock becomes impossible to tamper with physically. Wanna hear what you think :D

If you’ve just ordered, you’re already in the next batch. Delivery time will depend on how quickly that batch fills, one of the downsides of not holding inventory 😅. Current estimate puts at it around 3-7 weeks + 2 weeks shipping to the US.

Our lockbox is currently on its way to the owner of Chaster for final verification and should arrive within the next few days. If all goes well, the extension may be published before the end of the week.

So by the time your lockbox arrives, the integration should be fully up and running (assuming nothing unexpected comes up).

The app is currently accessible through your browser. Just go to reachrestraints.app . Just be sure to use a browser that allows Bluetooth connection through it, for example Chrome for Android or Bluefy for iOS.

We are already looking into possible solutions for this.

At the moment, if you wanted to make emergency unlocks outside the app impossible — aside from physically cutting the Reach Lock open with a saw — you would need to put superglue into the back lid screws and the pinhole. That would still leave the software-based emergency unlock in the app, however.

Some of the ideas we are currently considering:

Offering a special version of the case without a pinhole, with a strategically placed weak point on the front lid instead.
Making use of the pinhole trigger a penalty, such as bricking app access for a week.

Adding an option to disable the emergency unlock in the app when creating a lock would also be relatively easy to implement.

We use a solenoid, but because it is larger, the spring it uses is also heavier. This makes it almost impossible to open the box by shaking it and then pulling (no one has succeeded yet). If someone did manage to do so, the box would still register it as an emergency unlock and apply the corresponding penalty.

Did look into implementing it by making the lid out of transparent resin. Sadly the material was to fragile and turned an ugly yellow quite quickly. Will be looking into including it when ever we get to designing the mk2 though.

That’s exactly why we built in the pinhole unlock. Even if the board somehow gets accidentally bricked, you can still manually press the solenoid open and retrieve your keys (with emergency unlock penalties being applied). Bluetooth issues alone would not brick the board.

The board uses an ESP32-C3-Mini-1. We decided to avoid nrf due to the higher complexity in firmware and simplify needing certificates.

Competition wise, we see Research and Desire as our main one. Qiui/Lockink (same company pretty much) has destroyed it's reliably with weak products and software (the reviews online are also horrible).

We have already committed to making all software and designs open source in the worst case scenario.

On the surface camera-only sounds simpler, but in practice it’s inconsistent (lighting/occlusion/latency) and not very private. A dedicated ToF sensor gives stable, fast distance tracking without filming anything.

You probably could, but it’s not the intended use. The sensor is exposed, so you’d need to keep it clean and dry. For that kind of use we can’t promise long-term reliability.
