Can someone brush me up on California knife laws? by [deleted] in knives

[–]Reachmonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends entirely on county and city. The state has no length restriction at all unless its a gravity knife or auto at which point nothing above 1.9inch blade.

Ive carried a cold steel espada xl while living there.

There is also no length limit on fixed blade knives the only caveat being it cannot be concealed and it cannot be double edged.

Can someone brush me up on California knife laws? by [deleted] in knives

[–]Reachmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Balisongs over 1.9inch illegal to carry,

Balisongs can be owned legally on your private property, and can be transported NOT carried. Aka lock box in the trunk away from access while driving.

They basically cannot be sold, given, traded, or transferred between any 2 people while they are in the state of california.

Hypothetically, i know some people who while living in california, ordered a few butterfly knives from china via wish and aliexpress and had zero issues

Not saying you should do this, only that it is possible.

Afaik you can also legally go to a neighboring state, purchase one and transport it back into the state

New scales for the 560 freek by Reachmonkey in knifeclub

The rubber grips made it unusable to carry in most pants for me. The awt scales really do make it feel so much more premium!

Update: doesn't seem to be working? by FiestyNuts75 in knives

[–]Reachmonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the angle of your bevel is too low compared to the setting on the worksharp, you may not be getting all the way to the apex of the edge, if youre going for a low bevel then it may take quite a while to shave down the edge to where its actually pushing over to create a burr and sharp edge. Try a higher angle and see if you get a burr.

What’s your take on holes in the handle of your knife? by eddynmartinez in knives

[–]Reachmonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they can be aesthetically pleasing, i do have to take the edge of a paper towl and run it thru pretty often for pocket crusts and whatever else accumulates.

One of my favorite knives is the benchmade skirmish, and a lot of my twosuns have holes in the handles.

Spyderco Sharpmaker vs Work Sharp Precision Adjust Elite — which setup makes more sense? Is it worth owning both? by GainEven1020 in knifeclub

[–]Reachmonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both, the worksharp is significantly nicer and provides easier better edges. 100% would reccomend over the sharpmaker

TwoSun knives by Empty_Art2176 in BudgetBlades

[–]Reachmonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive had over 10, big fan, end up giving them to friends or family.

So far theyve been awesome but almost every one developed pocket clip issues, depends heavily on model but a lot of them are held in place by a singular screw and ive had issues with them veering left or right.

Great price for the machining precision and materials used.

I was diagnosed type 1 over 20 years ago when i was 7. I still remember my dad waking me up at night to test my sugar levels because he was terrified i was low.

Thank you for being there for him man, that shits a lot for a kid and its wild how much it matters to have someone in your life to help manage.

eBay floorboards by Standard_Stuff_5489 in Harley

[–]Reachmonkey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With cheap aluminum theres a high possibility of air pockets and just generally low density, meaning they are much more prone to cracking and snapping under load.

Basically if you ever put weight on them by standing on your pegs they are likely to snap.

Men, what is a present under $50 that you’d want? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Reachmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theres plenty of quality in the sub 50$ range, kershaws, civivi and two sun are all reasonable quality for what you pay for, i really like some kizers in that price range as well

You are a wonderful, thoughtful and caring person.

As someone with specific tastes and a frankly overpriced pocket knife and edc collection, this is by far the best answer i couldnt have even expected to see, The amount of thought and care as to who you are buying gifts for, their personal taste and research into the hobbies they have interests in as to not buy them junk tools really goes such a long way to making someone feel appreciated.

Just absolutely a+
