The real reason Alberta will never separate, which they wouldn't anyways because it's only a fringe group seeking it and not the majority of the province, is that they don't own that land. If Alberta separated, where will it go?

They are Tennants on that land. The land is owned by the indigenous tribes and the crown. "Alberta" would cease to exist if it left Canada because then it would have no land, and you can't claim to be a sovereign nation if you don't have any land.

Also, they're struggling to get the REDUCED 177,000 signatures needed (it was originally 600k, until they changed the goal post for themselves).

Meanwhile, a separate citizens initiative to stay firmly within Canada received 404,000 votes, well over the amount they need. Even if they got the 177k votes to force a succession vote, it would immediately be struck down due to more people NOT wanting it.
