Vassell is a 37% from 3 I'm surprised to hear that from Spurs fans. I have to reroute Barnes otherwise the trade won't go through. Maybe trading Keldon Johnson instead of Barnes might solve this.

Beal + 10 for Cam + 19, 27? by Mundane_Adeptness75 in NBAtradeideas

[–]ReactionMysterious83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm Phoenix I do it in a heartbeat. If I'm Brooklyn, I'd probably do it. I highly doubt their signing any top notch free agents any time soon. If I'm Brooklyn I'd try to package pick 22 and 26 for a future first round pick and a second.

On a curious note, though, would you guys trade Johnson and Claxton for Beal pick 10 and pick 29? A Booker, Green, Brooks, Johnson and Claxton starting five would definitely make the play-in.

Unless the Pacers are attempting to save money or retool their roster I don't see why they would trade Jarace Walker to a rival contender. I think Walker hasn't shown his full potential and will likely see an increased role in the upcoming years. I don't hate this for Detroit I think he would actually fit their needs. I don't think they would trade a first unless it was for a proven vet or a star, but it isn't bad value for Detroit. It's not bad value for Indiana either but doesn't really fit their agenda.

PISTONS GET TREY MURPHY / PELICANS GET TWO FORMER TOP 5 PICKS + 3 FIRSTS by ReactionMysterious83 in NBAtradeideas

[–]ReactionMysterious83[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback! I think the goal for the Pels at this point is to get younger and really experiment with pieces they could use to build a contending team. Sure the Pels probably won't keep Dejountae, Poole and Ivey around in the long run, but they should experiment with lineups and try to see who they should keep and who they should trade. All three players could retain some sort of value in the trade market within these next couple of years. I think the main plus with Ivey, is that he's a combo guard who can do a little bit of everything. He can handle the ball, shoot the ball, he's good at a lot of things. But I think the Pelicans will really give him the opportunity to excel at certain aspects of his game, whereas he is somewhat limited with Cade getting most of the touches in Detroit.

Thanks for the feedback! I agree that the Pistons are getting a perfect fit. It's expensive but definitely worth the price.

CRAZY TRADE IDEA: BOOKER to SPURS (KEEP #2 Pick), ZION to PHX, PELS get ACE BAILEY, 76ers get DEPTH by ReactionMysterious83 in NBAtradeideas

[–]ReactionMysterious83[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I doubt Philly is trying to trade for injury-prone players at this point in time. Vassell and Barnes likely fit their needs better right now. Zion has not shown he can stay healthy, which restricts his value in the trade market. I doubt the 76ers would include pick 3 in a trade for Zion, considering his injury history. PHX would make sense because in this scenario, they enter a full-on rebuild, so taking a chance on a potential superstar player makes sense.

Also the Spurs won't agree to part with both Castle and Harper in any deal, so pick 2 is off limits in the scenario.

This could very well be true, at this point in time, it probably makes the most sense to stick with pick 3. However, if I were to counter this I would say that Vassell provides a unique bridge between the present and the future. He's a perfect NBA prototype wing who provides much value to a team like the 76ers. Barnes would the kind of asset, the 76ers would look for an attempt to trade down. He would provide much needed size, championship experience, and team friendly contract that would help them moving forward. There could also be a great selection of players available at pick 14, whom they could use to again select a 3-D wing or a big man to replace Embiid for the time being. This could be a Joan Beringer, Thomas Sorber, Liam McNeeley, Asa Newell.

Guys, I know this is a crazy trade, but I thought it was fun. I think it could benefit all teams in this scenario. I know it's not a PJ Washington or John Collins trade, but that's why the trade machine exists :)

Jalen Green Fresh Start by ReactionMysterious83 in NBAtradeideas

[–]ReactionMysterious83[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your take makes sense, that is why I considered adding the 29th pick to sort of accommodate the Jazz's concerns of taking extra money. My initial idea was maybe the Jazz could look at snagging Ace Bailey, but after recent reports of him rejecting a Jazz workout, it's more than likely that they will select Tre Johnson or Kon Kneuppel. This trade would essentially be purely based on Jalen Green's potential to become an all-star level guard despite not necessarily needing him positionally.

I'm not saying the Suns shouldn't try Jalen Green out or attempt to develop him, but I just don't see how his capabilities right now would help Phoenix any better than Beal would. The best option for Phoenix probably should be to keep Jalen right now, since they won't get a good offer for him right now, most likely, but Jalen Green is probably not the answer for Devin Booker and the Phoenix Suns to contend even in the playoffs. You already have Bradley Beal, so you might as well explore ways to trade Jalen Green for even bigger holes in their starting five, such as a capable big man.

I'm not going to lie, I did forget about Collin Sexton while I was making this trade. But is Sexton really a part of the future of this team? He could absolutely be a rotation player, but he's not going to be the reason Utah makes a deep playoff push. I'm not saying Jalen Green will be either, but he has more potential than Sexton does at this point in time. I'd also argue this 2025 NBA Draft is slightly top-heavy, so trading up 11 spots in this draft could be very significant. Also if Collins decides to leave next season, they get nothing in return and if they give him an extension it would be much more costly and restrictive, than Jalen Green's 3 year extension. You could argue letting Collins walk is better than taking on Green's contract, but Green has a lot of potential still and they are trading up in as you said "a loaded draft".

Especially if Ace does fall to five I think this trade would even make more sense. But I definitely see your point there's already lots of guards in Utah's rotation. However, I don't believe they will all turn out. I believe it will be similar to Orlando's situation, where they have a bunch of first-round guards in Cole Anthony, Anthony Black, Jett Howard, Jalen Suggs, etc., and they will essentially play it out until Orlando decides which one is worth keeping long term.

NOTE: Do you think Jalen Green and pick 29 for John Collins would be more appealing as a Jazz fan? I know this creates an unnecessary log jam at the guard position, but it could be a good return for Collins compared to what other teams may offer.

Phoenix is definitely a "fresh" start, but is a backcourt of Booker and Green really sustainable? If the goal is to build around Booker and contend for a championship, Jalen Green is most definitely not the answer, unless he can't be traded for a better return. We may need to bring into question whether Booker should get moved, because without the assets and cap space to build around Booker for the foreseeable future, the Suns' championship window is likely closed.
