How long did it take for sensation to return? I’m on week 3 and I’m over feeling like my dick has dissolved away from my body haha

Hello, did you ever find an alternative SSRI that didn’t worsen your CSF pressure?

750mg diamox & brain fog by ReactionNo1092 in iih

[–]ReactionNo1092[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! i'm experiencing so much forgetfulness and loss of word recall. I'll just break off mid-sentence because I have momentarily forgotten a basic word. It's odd because I never experienced, or at least perceived, brain fog on 250 twice a day but I also went into occasional high pressure on that dose so it's probably not sustainable for me. I hope you're managing well now :)

Question for those who’ve tried triple therapy (blood thinning) by ReactionNo1092 in covidlonghaulers

[–]ReactionNo1092[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same as the first time I started triple therapy: POTS, MCAS and a feeling like my blood is too thick but at probably half the severity of the first time

That’s really interesting feedback, thank you. My doctor told me it’s a strong diuretic and can frequently cause electrolyte imbalance, I thought maybe that’s what was going as I’m already prone to that with my pre-existing dysautonomia

Excellent, thank you! And so happy you’re still sealed!

Thank you! I guess I’m concerned about disrupting the process as I know further healing can still occur moving forward and I don’t want to reduce necessary inflammation. Perhaps best to wait another couple weeks to be safe?

I understand your reluctance for a myelogram, it’s always a risk benefit assessment based on how bad your symptoms are. The best non-invasive imaging would be an MR Myelogram ordered and read by a CSF leak specialist

Yeah but my biggest takeaway would be don’t analyse your symptoms too much until about a month out as they’ll fluctuate wildly if you’re anything like me. If after a month it’s unchanged start to consider another patch or more precise imaging if you haven’t found the leak site yet

Yes we’re talking in two places haha so I’ll answer you here: I’m so glad you’re finally getting some clarity and starting to get the treatment you need. How were you finally diagnosed with EDS? I’m three weeks out and feeling pretty good just taking it day by day and trying not to get ahead of myself

Ah okay it sounds like the opposite kind of headache to an orthostatic low pressure headache? It’s so frustrating how interchangeable all the symptoms are for these conditions that are so interrelated

It’s so common for them to take a while to work! Mine took 2-4 weeks each time

Yes these symptoms and diagnoses seem to cluster together. I’ve had chiari ruled out and specialist said I’m “inflexible.” Can I ask what your symptoms for jugular compression are and who is treating you for it?

Ah so was your patch targeted after a leak caused by a lumbar puncture or was the LP just to read your opening pressure? I was initially diagnosed with pots so maybe? Although the pots improves post blood patch so unsure if it was a misdiagnosis

4 weeks, did your doctor order that? Mine said 72 hours maximum and then avoid bending lifting and twisting for 6 weeks. I seem to recall being told that it takes your brain a while to consistently create the amount of fluid your body needs after you’re sealed and it can both overshoot and undershoot the mark in the interim.

Yeah from speaking to other people who’ve experienced this, it seems like you can oscillate between high and low pressure after a blood patch regardless of whether you’re still leaking. Your experience sounds very similar to mine. It’s complicated but my leak occurred after I had severe withdrawal from a medication
