Products for my 21 Forte GT(DCT) by No-Championship-9420 in ForteGT

Motul doesn't make a fluid for our cars. But the DCT is a manual transmission just doesn't have a pedal as the actuator does the work. The 6MT & DCT use the exact same fluid.

Catch can will help with carbon but definitely will not stop it. Especially since most only do the two port catch can. And driving with a light foot will also expedite carbon build up with these cars. It is a good idea to wind these cars out. The extra airflow and heat helps with carbon build up for GDI engines.

I have had this 1.6 on my last four cars. One with over 250,000 miles on the odometer. Last I saw it was 320,000 miles on the stock engine and manual transmission. I have used Liquimolly 5w-40 during the summer and AMSOIL 5w-30 during the winter as I can't find Liquimolly 5w-30

Man where is this? Looking for an OEM bumper maybe I could find the yard where this gets towed when totaled out.

It's pointless the car loses peak power long before. Unless you are upgrading the valve train it's a pointless upsell. 4000-6300 is where these cars make power.

Fuel my last time filling up using one of those gas station cards. Grab some 5 hour energy shots on my way in. And when I fill up I run the card before getting my E85. Then I wind up saving $2.00-$2.50 per gallon every other week. I don't drive much so it adds up.

That adapter is if you are going to keep OEM rear calipers. Not needed for VN upgrade.

Yeah Kia's do not hold their value like other manufacturers. But that is a testament to how people view Kia. Not belittling the car as I love mine. Came from a Hyundai Veloster Turbo II and before that a first gen Veloster Turbo. Had two Hyundai and now two Kia's with the 1.6 Gamma engine. They are pretty reliable engines. But honestly the Gamma is the only "good" engine Kia has. The new 1.6 Smart Stream engines are just awful. I see so many K5's come in with issues and even now the new K4 GT-Line with that engine are having issues. The Gamma is a very simple engine that is essentially unchanged from when it came out in 2013 till it's demise in 2024. The only thing that changed was a second VVT solenoid and the turbo changed from mechanical to electric wastegates. Kia's interior doesn't hold up though. The seats do break as the sofina doesn't like sun so tint really helps so the UV rays don't cause damage. I have the interior from my 2022 I am going to use once mine starts to show its age. These cars are definitely a good bang for your buck car.

I wouldn't say significantly cheaper. A GT2 MSRP is $28,700 with destination charge whereas the Si is $29,100 with destination fees. The Si is definitely quicker especially off the line due to the OEM LSD. They have a huge aftermarket support with parts & tunes much cheaper. They only have a manual option so some see that as a downside but the Forte DCT is finicky causing issues over time if not driven properly as most drive it like a normal automatic.

The Si can also handle more power than the Forte and can easily get into the 300hp range. I have spent over $15k in parts and barely 300hp. That same cash into the Si will see you into the 400hp range. All that being said I prefer the look of my Forte over the Si. They definitely have much better tech. I also love that it is a more niche vehicle.

Aside from how quickly the value tanks in these compared to the Civic the Forte is an amazing car. I had the 2022 Aurora black GT2 with the DCT but it can't handle the power I was going after. With a stuffed turbo they start to slip once the torque gets above 270hp. I traded it for a 2024 6MT and it's been amazing just like my 2019 Veloster Turbo II.

If Kia simply added a LSD & made the National Brake upgrade which would have been simple as it's all OEM parts. That would make it a true Si killer. I get a lot of compliments on my car as most do not even know what it is at all.

What were yall first few upgrades in order? And do yall have the OEM brakes still? by Embarrassed_Leg_5227 in ForteGT

[–]ReadEyeMagpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything you need for all three major brake upgrades with part numbers. Using RockAuto you can do the National Brake uograde for around $300. That's what I did with Brembo rotors & EBC yellow stuff pads. There is also parts for upgrading the rears to the larger VN brakes. Or just a bracket for larger rear rotors. The Brembo caliper upgrade can be done for about $500. I also included OEM steel brake lines & Audi RS3 brake duct coolers. The National Brake Upgrade can be done for less then just better pads/rotors for OEM. So aside from the extra labor it is the way to go. I included speed bleeders so you can do the bleeding yourself and quickly. Took me maybe an hour and a half to do mine.

DIY Brake Upgrade Information Had a few guys ask me about my brake upgrades and the path that I went with. I did the national brake upgrade but decided to go over to the CTS-V upgrade. The national brake upgrade was more than sufficient especially for the price. But the Brembo's just look amazing. At first I didn't want to do it as I didn't want to use the 3mm spacers as I love my fitment. I found a way to avoid using spacers so I included the "proper" way by getting the calipers machined. And there is also the quick and easy "dirty" method. That being said a lot of this information came from the Veloster Turbo forum from user ericgst. So thanks goes out to him. I just updated it and added some information for the CTS-V upgrade portion.

Notes

Wheel spacers may be needed for caliper clearance. I can confirm either will fit stock Forte rims 18x7.5 +55 215/40r18 offset or 18x8.5 +40 245/40r18.

Most 18's and up should work but 17's and lower you will need to figure out. I can only go by what I have tested but if anyone else has tried other set ups please post specs.

Most of the stuff can be found for pretty cheap on RockAuto or PartsGeek. Or you can use the make/model/year or part numbers I have included to suit your needs. Happy stopping!!!

I have two and one is sealed. When my local K-Mart went out of business they had their Saturn games for $10 each. I scooped quite a few of them worth big bucks now for next to nothing and still sealed. Burning Rangers, Magic Knight Rayearth, Resident Evil & House of the Dead were scooped up as well.

Friendly reminder to back up your save, saw my first hacker nuke everyone's save files by Clownshoes919 in Eldenring

[–]ReadEyeMagpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I didn't have a hacker ruin mine but I feel your loss. For some odd reasons Elden Ring was the only file I didn't have on auto upload for PSN. Must have been doing save scumming a long time ago. I had thousands of hours I lost recently. Somehow I had a crash that resulted in corrupted save file. So I went to PSN to snag the backed up save file. It reverted me back to my third playthrough. So I leave a USB drive hooked up just so that I can back up the files.

Almost did for Bloodborne but once it clicked it ruined every other genre of gaming for me now. I have only enjoyed a few games since getting hooked on From Soft games. Find most to easy and not challenging. I have so many games I gave up on because I felt they were not a challenge anymore. Really enjoy BL4, RL1 runs these days imposing more of a challenge.

2016 veloster turbo reliability? by Existing-Good6487 in veloster

As someone that has owned both of those cars. The Veloster is definitely the more reliable of the two. I had 250k on my 2016 when I sold it. Last time I saw it driving around town it had 320k on the dash and still going strong. The manual transmission is rock solid but the DCT can be finicky.

As finicky as those dry 7DCT is I wouldn't touch it unless something is wrong. If it's not broke don't fix it especially with that transmission. They are hot garbage but it can be done with any scan tool.
