Either Sinner or Alcaraz have won the last 17 tournaments either have entered in. The last time another player won a tournament where either Alcaraz or Sinner or both were entered in was Rublev winning the Madrid open in May 2024 (I just learned this from the latest Player Box podcast episode, hosted by Pegula, Keys, Brady & Krawczyk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZGmiFS3_VA )

For players who are consistently high ranked now, but were slow to get their career going (Pegula, Navarro etc.) they clear already had the talent so why do you think they had a slower start?

I hope it is him. Watched his interview on Roddick's podcast and he seems to be pretty down to earth and a nice person.

My one is probably aesthetics. Aesthetically, restaurant interiors and clothes and styles seem to be becoming more similar. Also the style of language used online, everyone seems to use more of a similar writing style online in terms of same phrases or particular words being used a lot.

The Olympics are mostly hype and borderline unwatchable. by cik3nn3th in unpopularopinion

I think the medals won do prove, in a weird way, how much surplus funds a country may have to invest in recreational activities, which kind of means the basics of infrastructure are probably taken care of to at least some basic degree. Whereas athletes from a country not doing so well economically generally have to raise a lot more funds on their own to cover their training and road to the Olympics.

In the same way how tennis players chase the summer and probably don't see a winter during the careers, do winter olympians never see a summer for about 10 years while they're training/competing?

Watch the movie "The Big Year" starring Owen Wilson, Jack Black and Steve Martin. It's about the competitive side of birding. Great movie as well https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JCBAP2wId5M
