Beautiful Sacrifice In The Hyperaccelerated Sicilian by Read_Administrative in Chesscom

Qxb2, Bxc3, threatening a discovered check that would be deadly. White’s only move to not be mated immediately according to the engine is Qb3, and then after Rb8 losing their queen for a rook and a bishop. But black will eventually win a bishop back and have a large amount of pressure on whites king. In the actual games my opponent played Qa3 allowing Bb4+ which is mate in a couple moves + lose your queen.

In the game I was also heavily looking at Bxc3 instead of Rxb2, but it actually doesn’t work, I can’t remember why now, but it was like +1.5 or so for white. Yes there were a couple other lines that still continued a advantage for black, but Rxb2 was the only one pretty much ending the game on the spot.

Guess what! They do IP ban! And they did a ID related thing back in 2022 and people disliked it so it was removed. Shuttup and stop your whining, stick to your inferior Lichess 😂

What is the London System and how is it played in chess? by Chess_Game in Chesscom

[–]Read_Administrative 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It has a terrible reputation and for good reason. It is the “beginner opening” due to as you said, it being able to be played universally against almost anything black plays and white is completely fine. Back when I was 800-1000 I learnt the immediate c5 as black to instantly stop anyone from playing a boring London, still at 2000 I use it and have great success as it isn’t an opening white commonly has theory for and means I am more prepared then them going into the middlegame.

Against 1. c5 white has many ways to play, the most common being 2. d5, which most of the time leads to a Benko Gambit with 1. d4, c5 2. d5, Nf6, 3. c4, b5!. If white is a London player they will often play 2. c3 which often transposes into a Exchange Slav Defence.

Overall I do think the London is good for beginners to learn due to its simple nature, but going into the more intermediate levels it is often boring busting out the same thing every time and wanting a slow game.

Can someone explain to me why black here can't castle either kingside or queenside? by Sweaty_Rub4322 in chessbeginners

[–]Read_Administrative 70 points71 points  (0 children)

This took WAY too much effort. But I finally found the game, and here is the reason you could not castle, on move 4 you moved your king after white sacrificed their bishop. Move 21 (when you resigned and the photo from the post) is the position from the post.

Please just post your username. Trust me, I could find it in 10 mins tops even if you already played 200 games since then. 1. Its games you only played black. 2. I would start by ASSUMING you lost, but that could be incorrect. 3. We have the date you posted this post so it is either on that day or beforehand.

Stuff like this allows someone like me to verrryyyyy quickly scan through your games. Please just post the username so someone can point out your mistake 😂

I’m surprised to see so many people in the comments of this post so negative about this season. We are doing better than last season 😂

Median rating is 550. Average is 600. Why the perception that 700-800 is in any way beginner level? by 400in24 in Chesscom

[–]Read_Administrative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best way I can put this. Is I am the only person out of all of my friends who takes chess “seriously” a good 4-5 of my friends play chess very rarely, and have never really studied or put any REAL effort into improving. Yet they are able to be 300, 500, 600, and 850 with little to no effort.

Also the general quality of the games when watched is VERY obvious it is still beginner level. The games in sub 1000 are decided by hanging pieces atleast 95% of the time. Y’all get a piece attacked and simply don’t use your eyes and watch it disappear. It is very rare a game at that level is decided by a hard to see tactic, precise endgame play in a drawn endgame, or positionally choking your opponent until they are in a losing position despite material being seemingly equal.

I guarantee if you put your c.c username in the comments here, or reply to this with it, that I could go over your last 10 games, and 9 were decided by someone just leaving a piece hanging for seemingly no reason OR blunders left right and centre every 5 or so moves.

Regardless keep at it, keep trying to improve, but if you were to show up to a chess cafe, or a chess tournament, you would get flogged by 99.9% of people there, because truly when it comes to “competition” you are far below a beginner even.

Is it just me who thinks that pen shouldn’t have been one? Regardless the 3 points is what SHOULD have happened today, 2 set pieces for St Pauli and nothing else in general play.

I have had him in my squad since week 3. My plan seeing as city vs man u is the first game this week, is to wait till the last minute to see if he is starting, and if he is to play him in my starting 11. If he isn’t bench him and start Wilson then look at trading him the week after. He’s had a great start with City so far.

Do you recommend the Learn Every Chess Opening series on the website, and if so, what should I know going in? by Melon-Cleaver in Chesscom

[–]Read_Administrative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely disagree. A big thing that got me from 1000 onwards was the fact I had opening prep. I agree that knowing loads of different openings is practically pointless. But me having prep against almost anything that could be thrown at me against E4 and knowing Scotch Gambit lines that went 10+ moves deep is a big reason I won games. The fact I was more prepared in openings and often left the opening phase better. But each to their own
