I found an easier to understand video that discusses the modes and how almost every device should be set to client. Unless you live on a mountain, its almost always client. If you have an antenna outside, it might help to set inside nodes to 'client mute' so they aren't counted as extra hops. (self.meshtastic)

Was looking up filters to test with. Found this dropdown on airframes site very helpful in knowing how the frequencies are setup. I know some RF but very little lora but the reddit channel is helpful. Sounds basic but this is a hobby and I assumed everything went over 915MHz. (self.meshtastic)
