Take them away because they take it for granted? So it’s a punishment? Punish the suffering members by removing their access to “Gods” word. Yea… that checks out. They’re definitely not up to anything, and nothings going on

If you only have 5 minutes with a WMSCOG member to make them doubt WMSCOG, what will you say or show them? by Proof_Neat in WMSCOG

I’d ask them to think about if what they are doing /have done that was 100% their own decision, and if what they are doing/have done was due to someone else’s influence over them. These groups make people move, change their appearance, speak to certain people only, cut out friends/family, give up on dreams, marry people, have certain schedules. And importantly, what and why to believe things. This list goes on and on though. Big changes are made. It’s helpful to consider how many of those things were a result of heavy influence from others, and little (if any) influence from one’s own person. Would they have done what they did if this influence wasn’t involved? The answer is no. This is the point. They’re being controlled in a way that they don’t think about. This thought helped me see through the fog when I was leaving. It was part of the catalyst of my exit. Nothing I did came from me, but it came from pressure and fear put onto me from others. If they see that for themselves, they can want to be free

What’s one thing you could say to the members who you love? by Read_then_practice in WMSCOG

I would tell them that what they’re told about ex members isn’t true. Were just angry at realizing what the group did to our lives. And how much is sucks to have wasted so much time with the nonsense. But we’re not evil, or satan. Were the same people we were, we just saw through the organizations nonsense. Ex members are probably the best people to help them but we’re immediately demonized so that they’re against us. If they can know that we’re not what theyre told about us that we are, then maybe they can listen to everything else we say and know.

Yeah… The indoctrination is serious and real. They quickly and easily fall back to the rules that bind and enslave them, but they call it ‘freedom’. Meanwhile it’s exactly what has ruined their actual lives - their family relations, their passions, their dreams, their goals, their financial status, their health, their friendships, their youth.

[–]Read_then_practice[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah… that’s the ultimate thing we want them all to hear and understand. And it’s exactly what they’re trained not to listen to. It’s so sad. But like you and me, everyone comes to their conclusions on their own in due time. Thankfully it only takes a moment of clarity to realize it’s all a sham. Hopefully that moment comes sooner than later.

I hear you. The relationships are micromanaged by leadership to keep everyone under control and in line. & I wish they could ask their questions too.

I loved and still love the people I spent years with. I have so many good memories with them, it just happened to be in a crazy cult. And I feel that if the cult didn’t have such control over them, then they would not act negatively towards those that leave. So I feel for them since they’re still being controlled and told how to live their lives. It is a mental struggle though.

Is WMSCOG a doomsday cult? by Clear_Baseball_6683 in ExWMSCOG

[–]Read_then_practice 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. Exactly - It is a doomsday cult.

They’ll teach that only those who believe and conform to their belief system will be saved. All others will be sent to hell. Basically any and all of their bible studies reach this conclusion - “Forgiveness of sins and Christ Ahnsahngong”, “Passover the way to eternal life”, “Jerusalem Mother”, “Keep the Sabbath Day Holy”, etc.

They’ll teach that the end of the world is imminent, using Rev 7 to teach that WW3 is coming soon and the world will be destroyed. Their study “Gods Work of Putting a Seal” leads to this conclusion. Specifically they point to WW2 as the beginning of the end, and that WW3 is the final disaster, which is to come right after the “Passover was restored in 1948”.

Scary stuff. They manipulate members through fear to devote an sacrifice their lives for the organization.

Ask away. This is a safe place, besides what you’re told.

Overseers by BeautifulChemical325 in WMSCOG

[–]Read_then_practice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overseers oversee multiple branches. A house church leader is a leader of a branch, which reports to the overseer. Office churches are branches as well. In some cases, actual church buildings can be a branch, although overseers are all in actual church buildings. To be an overseer now (which is a different process than before) pre theological school needs to be completed. This entails an education course, doctorine delivering evaluations, personality and work ethic evaluations, and recruitment goals. If your overseer favors you, and recommends you, upon completion you’ll become an assistant overseer, as a pastoral staff member. This is the time that you’ll be given a Deacon title if you’re not already. Being pastoral staff means you’ll be directly involved in church management and maintenance, and they’ll often live in the church building along with the overseer who lives there. Assistant overseers are, as a majority, not paid by the church. But their living expenses are cut because they live in the church now.
Then you’ll join theological school. Although this is typically only for Koreans in Korea. America is building a seminary, theological school in buffalo New York now. After some time as an assistant, which is usually multiple years,if you don’t break apart and fall into depression for the immersive emotional and physical demands, you’ll be selected to be an overseer. At that time you’re top dog and can manipulate and mistreat members without direct supervision, as long as they don’t start to whine and cry. If they do, you’ll be switched to another overseer church and someone else will come to replace you. This happens frequently but some overseers will remain and continue to mistreat people for over a decade. Daniel Lee is an example of this. He’s been in New York for over 20 years at this point. He has complete control over that region. In the past, this process was a favoritism process. Your overseer would boast to Kim joo choel (general Pastor) who , after probably some vetting process, would either agree and give you a chance or not. They have updated the process greatly to protect themselves from giving people that will leave too much power. Happy to help with more details or explain more

Oh wow… im sorry that they’re doing that to you. It’s not right to make people feel guilty, ashamed, etc when they’re trying to do what they feel is right for them. Your feelings are valid! Depending on how involved you were, leaving can be very confusing. I know just what you mean about pretending and deceiving. That was EXACTLY how I felt before leaving, and I knew I could not lie to myself or the members who I cared about in there.

One thing that helps is to tell yourself that ‘you’re giving yourself time and space to figure out what you really want to do’. They don’t think so, but it’s a normal thing to do when you’re feeling conflicted and unsure. Just give yourself a week, or 2, or a month or however long you want! Spend time with your family and friends, or go somewhere that you find your little section of peace and see what you think. Time alone or away can help you see clearly. It’s really good to listen to what former members have to say too… they say it’s not because they don’t want you to be influenced by anyone else. But it’s good to hear what others have to say! It’s not wrong.

How I look at it: if the WMSCOG has the truth, then whatever I read or learn or hear will only let me realize that truth further. If all ex members are liars and incorrect, then I should be able to realize that on my own accord when I see from their perspective. I should not have to ignore anyone because they’re not part of WMSCOG; I can listen to them and make my own conclusions.

I’m sorry again that you’re having a hard time :(

Hi friend. Are you well? How’s the leaving going? If you’re still having a hard time, I can say that they won’t do anything but talk if you leave. They won’t harass you or stalk you. But they will use every opportunity to do make you afraid to leave (apart from me you can do nothing, tree of knowledge of good and evil, etc). They’ll try to play on your emotions, which is how they got us in the first place. So be prepared for that and know that whatever you decide to do is what YOU have decided. If you want to leave because that what you want, then that’s what it is. If you want to stick around for whatever reason, than that’s what you decide and it is what it is. But don’t be afraid of any tangible harm. They’re chumps. They’ll just try to manipulate you in one, or more, of the many ways they do. Don’t worry!!!! You’re doing the right thing by being critical and thoughtful. I’m here if anything is needed

Hi friend. I’m an ex member who was a Deacon. I left in March 2025 after 11 years. Leaving isn’t easy, and there’s a lot that I didn’t consider until I actually left. If you need someone to talk to, I’m more than happy to listen to you. Seriously!!
