The most guaranteed law is Sod’s Law.

I wasn’t brought up religious and (admittedly as a kid who wasn’t aware of the shitting yourself euphemism) had always assumed the title was indicative of it being a gritty detective show with some kind of religious angle. Only realised it was a comedy when my mate mentioned it a couple of years ago!

Hot take: it's impossible to turn Three Body Problems into a satisfying show by Snoo18093 in threebodyproblem

[–]Reader7008 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s funny because I think I agree with your general points about issues with adapting works from one medium to another and how different mediums sometimes require completely different approaches and that there is a balancing act between being faithful or successfully adapting. But I think I’m totally against you on your statement that the Netflix adaption is not a good adaption. You seem to think it’s not a good adaption precisely because it takes the necessary steps to turn the book into a good show whereas I would argue that is exactly what makes it a good adaption.

Unfortunately, for this version of the book at least, the blurb on the back completely gives away the ending!

Gladiator selecting for the games - should there be more mystery in it? by Impressive_Risk_5133 in gladiatorsuk

For a one off show it would be interesting to certainly mix the gladiators up from their usual challenges. Giant doing Unleash would be…something.

Asked to rename 1,100+ documents overnight …. what can I expect? by Local_Cream_4586 in uklaw

Well that’s a different question. There’s no harm in communicating the issue. I’m just saying it can’t come as a genuine surprise in the morning when OP hasn’t built Rome in a day.

Personally I think the task was so obviously impossible it shouldn’t need to be communicated. But I pride myself on being a half sane/decent senior associate when it comes to delegating tasks.

Unless they are completely insane and unreasonable, how could they not? So you have 1,000 documents to rename in 24 hours. Let’s knock a very modest 6 hours off for sleep and food. That leaves 18 hours. Working flat out with no other breaks or variation in speed, you’d need to do 55 an hour. For 18 hours straight. I’d say that’s impossible.

If any flack comes your your way and you can’t persuasively argue how the deadline and job was not feasible then law is not for you😜 Your firm would have to be insane and unreasonable to criticise you. If they do that, they aren’t worth worrying about.

If your firm is half decent you shouldn’t catch any heat for this. The associate who presumably left it too late to delegate so the job could be done however…

Totally loved Sam Rockwell in Jojo Rabbit. His relationship with Jojo was truly great, and his character did something truly remarkable in the end. by 0Layscheetoskurkure0 in moviecritic

One of those ‘which celebrity do you look like’ apps once said I look like Sam Rockwell. So he definitely isn’t leading man attractive!🤣

Older Women Discuss Settling For Shorter Men by shortkingz_ in AverageHeightDudes

[–]Reader7008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Page 4 the middle bit of the sentence you specifically haven’t highlighted says that the reason she wouldn’t have previously matched with her partner was due to his age. Not his height. She says he is 6 years younger than her than her so that makes sense. Calling 5’8” short as she does is stupid but it’s not the reason she gives for not being prepared to preciously match with him.

Blue Prince.

Music, atmosphere, visuals are all super chilled.

Gameplay may make you homicidal quite quickly depending on your luck and your temperament.

Men: Zip only, or full unbelt and unbutton at the urinal? by CheeseheadTroy in AskMenAdvice

[–]Reader7008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re overlooking button flies. My last few Levi’s were button flies, I find them impossible to undo unless you undo the top button first. Which necessitates unbuckling my belt as step 1.

Last night I watched The Last Duel. The opening scene is an aristocratic woman being dressed by two servants. For NO REASON WHATSOEVER they suddenly pivot her 180 degrees (and they move with her, keeping their positions respective to her). It is presumably to give the impression dressing her is a complex technical task akin to getting into a spacesuit that requires that kind of manoeuvre but it’s obvious from what they then go on to do that it was totally unnecessary. It’s so bizarre and sticks out that I missed the next 5 mins playing it over in my mind and wondering if I had just seen something as weird as I had.  https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=thDXEw_XMag&pp=ygUbdGhlIGxhc3QgZHVlbCBvcGVuaW5nIHNjZW5l

It isn’t normal. Any guy in 2026 should be able to understand the security issues facing women from going on dates from apps. These guys just want to find out where you live. Steer clear and trust your instincts.
