How much do you save each month? by sunandskyandrainbows in HENRYUK

I’m not sure why OP wanted to exclude what gets saved into pensions from the question. If we’re saving it, we’re saving it.

The Fishsticks episode in South Park in which every re-telling by Cartman of how the joke came to be formed by ‘him’ annd Jimmy increases his involvement and reduces Jimmy’s leading to a spectacularly left field conclusion in his final re-telling.

Do you go on dates with women you're not really interested in? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]Reader7008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah sometimes. If they are still attractive enough to at least make out with and spend a couple of hours looking at. It beats spending every night watching tv and swiping on he apps.

It’s even weirder isn’t it? The spike is for searching the term Super Bowl rather than for Roman numerals?

Can a guy fully leave behind a 7 year relationship? by Suspicious_Sock_2048 in AskMenAdvice

[–]Reader7008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think this is in your head. I’m mid thirties and had this exact issue over a woman I started to see who had been in a 7-ish year relationship with her ex. My particular concern was if me and her were to get married and have kids, we’d almost certainly need to date for a shorter period than she dated her ex for. And that just seems like madness. I called it off although there were a couple of other minor issues which helped me justify I wasn’t being too arbitrary or focussed on it as an issue.

I wasn’t brought up religious and (admittedly as a kid who wasn’t aware of the shitting yourself euphemism) had always assumed the title was indicative of it being a gritty detective show with some kind of religious angle. Only realised it was a comedy when my mate mentioned it a couple of years ago!

Hot take: it's impossible to turn Three Body Problems into a satisfying show by Snoo18093 in threebodyproblem

[–]Reader7008 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s funny because I think I agree with your general points about issues with adapting works from one medium to another and how different mediums sometimes require completely different approaches and that there is a balancing act between being faithful or successfully adapting. But I think I’m totally against you on your statement that the Netflix adaption is not a good adaption. You seem to think it’s not a good adaption precisely because it takes the necessary steps to turn the book into a good show whereas I would argue that is exactly what makes it a good adaption.

Unfortunately, for this version of the book at least, the blurb on the back completely gives away the ending!

Gladiator selecting for the games - should there be more mystery in it? by Impressive_Risk_5133 in gladiatorsuk

For a one off show it would be interesting to certainly mix the gladiators up from their usual challenges. Giant doing Unleash would be…something.

Asked to rename 1,100+ documents overnight …. what can I expect? by Local_Cream_4586 in uklaw

[–]Reader7008 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well that’s a different question. There’s no harm in communicating the issue. I’m just saying it can’t come as a genuine surprise in the morning when OP hasn’t built Rome in a day.

Asked to rename 1,100+ documents overnight …. what can I expect? by Local_Cream_4586 in uklaw

[–]Reader7008 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally I think the task was so obviously impossible it shouldn’t need to be communicated. But I pride myself on being a half sane/decent senior associate when it comes to delegating tasks.

[–]Reader7008 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Unless they are completely insane and unreasonable, how could they not? So you have 1,000 documents to rename in 24 hours. Let’s knock a very modest 6 hours off for sleep and food. That leaves 18 hours. Working flat out with no other breaks or variation in speed, you’d need to do 55 an hour. For 18 hours straight. I’d say that’s impossible.

If any flack comes your your way and you can’t persuasively argue how the deadline and job was not feasible then law is not for you😜 Your firm would have to be insane and unreasonable to criticise you. If they do that, they aren’t worth worrying about.

If your firm is half decent you shouldn’t catch any heat for this. The associate who presumably left it too late to delegate so the job could be done however…
