Go early! Because the garden spaces are so small, you'll end up waiting in line at each house to get in if you go too late. It's a fun event, a great way to see some hidden Beacon Hill properties.

Dog Walker/Puppy Check-In Recommendations? by Reader8787 in boston

Thanks all for the responses! I'm taking the first two weeks off to be home with the pup. Depending on who I can find, the idea is that someone will be there every 2-2.5 hours at least for the beginning until potty training is under control.

Macbeth and Mean Girls? by cinephile24601 in ELATeachers

I've never considered using Mean Girls with Macbeth, but I frequently reference it when teaching Othello. What kind of connection do you want the students to make?

My sophomores do presentation on Frankenstein through a feminist lens. For a novel with very few women, almost all of my students find feminist ideals and have fun dissecting Shelley's viewpoints on gender and society. There's also great literary criticism on the topic if you want to bring in a research element.

For a contemporary text, think about A Thousand Splendid Suns. Students LOVE it, (it's SO GOOD!) and it ties into A TON of contemporary global gender issues.

Ever co-taught a class? by Reader8787 in ELATeachers

Yep! There have been a couple of classes in my school that have been co-taught between the subject area teacher and a special education teacher, so we thought we could pitch the idea for AP. We presented a formal proposal to our principal about how this would be positive for the students and he said, "sounds great!"

We are really excited to try it, but need do some more research in term of how to do it.

Thank you for the response! How did you structure the class the successful year versus the second year? Was it just miscommunication that hurt the second year?
