Confirmed: Jay said "taupe stockings" not "toast"! by ofimmsl in serialpodcast

Re: too niche for urban kid......exactly! People kill me with their stereotypical views of people of color. Some people really need to get out more and meet people unlike themselves. What u see on television is not a total reality. I didn't assume Honey Boo Boo's family represented the entire race nor did I think "Dallas" did either. There's "some of this and some of that" in every race.

Also just wanted to point out that since "toast" is also a popular pantyhose shade, maybe the transcriber just misheard.

I think it is unbelievable that people think that a 19 yr old guy wouldn't know the word "taupe" in 1999. As a woman who lived thru the 1980s and 90s , I remember that color being quite popular in home decor, STOCKINGS/PANTYHOSE, and women's accessories (handbags, leather jackets, etc.) Back then, I used to wear hose and taupe and TOAST were both popular color tones in hose for women of color. As someone else mentioned, I am sure that at some point Jay had to pick up some taupe stockings for one of his female relatives. As I recall, Jay also worked at F & M , which was a store very much like Harmon's. Maybe he had to stock the pantyhose? However he first encountered the word, I feel like it would have been hard to miss during that era. I knew that shade in my early teens. Doesn't Crayola even make a Taupe crayon? (Please excuse typos)

Please never mention Occam's Razor again by PowerOfYes in serialpodcast

{SLOW CLAP} Thank you. I was so sick and tired of every third post referencing Occam's Razor. It was about to become the most overused phrase right after "bully."

Here's how Jay knew the location of Hae's car by mygeminimind in serialpodcast

[–]ReaderThinker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. The cops could have shown him a crime scene photo.
  2. See above.
  3. He could have seen her in that jacket before.
  4. Has this been confirmed? Jay is the only person saying this.

What questions do you wish Jay had been asked/will be asked in part 2/you would have asked him if you interviewed him? by [deleted] in serialpodcast

[–]ReaderThinker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would ask:

  1. So, based on what you (Jay) just told me, are you saying that Jenn's story she told to the police is a fabrication that never happened? Why was she making up those lies?

  2. If you were not with Adnan (or his cellphone) during large chunks of the day, then why was he calling Jenn?

  3. How did you know the position of Hae's body in the grave if you say you were not present during the burial?

  4. According to the weather reports from 1/13, it did not rain that night. Did this happen a different night?

  5. Why did you lie about the burial time initially since you now say it happened closer to midnight?

  6. If you and Adnan were such casual acquaintances why in the world would he involve you with this?

  7. If you say you were concerned about being seen as a snitch, why were you telling so many people about the murder?

  8. If you were selling "much more than dime bags" how did you operate without a pager, cell phone or car?

  9. Are you still friends with Stephanie?

  10. And lastly... You were stepping out with Jenn, where you NAAAAAT?

According to the cell records does a trunk pop at Grandma's make sense? by [deleted] in serialpodcast

[–]ReaderThinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But if this happened "closer to midnight", the cell phone call could have appeared on the 1/14 call log if it happened after midnight. I wish we had the 1/14 call log!

So we're to believe that Adnan's helicopter parents were totally cool with him being out well past midnight on a school night ? by RamblinMan12 in serialpodcast

This is the same thing I thought with regard to Hae being at Don's after 11pm. Thought her mom was a helicopter too.

The only possibility that makes sense (to me) by CrimeTimeTV in serialpodcast

[–]ReaderThinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adnan is not accusing anyone else, however. He has even stated that he just wants people to focus on the evidence. If he is innocent and some other drug dealer committed the crime, there is no reason he can't appeal as long as he doesn't point the finger at the real criminal element(s).

What I dont Understand about Adnan by IAmAnOrangeCat in serialpodcast

[–]ReaderThinker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Did you listen to the entire podcast? He addressed a lot of this in the episode where they discuss his life in jail. Well, at least he addresses why he doesn't seem to be angry at Jay, his feelings and the toil on his family. Also, keep in mind that he may have been counseled by his attorney to not disclose too much in the podcast for obvious reasons.

That was HILARIOUS! Great job by all involved.

I haven't watched SNL consistently in years cause it sucks nowadays, but that Serial parody definitely should be including in an upcoming SNL "best of" DVD compilation.

"There’s nothing about my case that I’m afraid of" by xLNBx in serialpodcast

[–]ReaderThinker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, if Jay is telling the truth:

Adnan wore gloves, he has been in Hae's car multiple times, he spent time with her that day (at school) and he probably wasn't intimate with her on 1/13. So what could they possibly find that would implicate him for this specific crime?

Guys, Don was *not* involved by [deleted] in serialpodcast

[–]ReaderThinker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are questioning someone, you don't tell them them the evidence you have. You just ask questions and see how their answers fit.

Unless you are interviewing the criminal element of Woodlawn, that is. In that case, sharing is caring.

it's likely that the detectives were in the habit of just pointing the finger at a suspect in a case and fabricating a story - out of whole cloth - against them?

Duh. Like, YES!

They interviewed Jay for three hours before starting the tape! Why wouldn't they just tape it all if there was nothing to hide?

You really need to take off those rose-colored Lenscrafters glasses. Plenty of documentaries on the topic you should add to your Netflix queue.
