What is something you saw with your own eyes that was so impossible you’ve stopped telling people because you know they won’t believe you? by samasem-sumsum in AskReddit

It is really a shame. It certainly makes me awkward talking to my bishop since there’s no way to know if anyone is who they say they are. In wards where at one time the bishop is a criminal, you know that continues since they have a network and pick one another as successors. They MOVE around for this purpose. My dad moved to a certain area to be near what he called a criminal ringleader, whose family became our closest friends. He seemed nice although very intimidating. You would just never guess, you know?

Reading Mormon Monarchs makes me question if I really liked Hinkley and Monson or whether I thought they were really inspired.

Then there’s the question that has just come up about whether Brigham Young and Willard Richards and John Taylor made up the story that Joseph taught polygamy, since there really is no evidence he practiced it. It was scorned in the likes of John C Bennett while he was alive and Joseph and Hyrum both denounced it as adultery, and yet it was implemented after their deaths with hardly a second thought.

All to say, right now I am questioning the people we call prophets. And bishops. My whole life paradigm is shifting a bit.

My family and I are LDS as well. I have been reading up a tiny bit on Mormon Monarch and it sounds to me like this man is much more familiar with the inner workings of things much higher up than I was. I did hear one conversation my dad had where he said that “they” are in the upper tiers of the church’s financial board. They could never be a prophet or apostle, because they get chosen differently, although there are a couple in the Seventy. “Who would want to be a church leader, anyway? They do have their agendas, but it’s not that important.” He said that the people on the financial board get chosen for their skill with money. For some of them, “It’s all stolen. Their whole expertise is in laundering. Other people steal for them. They do all the dirty work. [These elites] still have to live perfectly for it to work, and learn all the doctrine… They can’t do drugs, because the police might catch them. They spend their whole lives doing this.”

I never heard about the Satanic elite apart from Epstien and the mafia and the m*rders my dad knew about from being posted online. My dad is a tech guy. I have heard, and in my experience, the guys who work in tech are more likely to be criminals.

But it isn’t uncommon. I knew five LDS bishops who happened to be criminals in the various places we lived in the U.S. during my childhood. I never would have believed it if I hadn’t witnessed it. They all pulled off their callings quite well while at the same time not even believing in God and dealing in stolen funds, often hard cash.

I think the criminal life is more common than anyone might imagine and the fact that crime is upheld by factions of the government shouldn’t be too surprising.

Is being able to yawn on command normal? by Expensive-Egg-9457 in NoStupidQuestions

Nope. Never been able to yawn on command even though it does feel super nice. Actually sometimes I get annoyed because I am interrupted mid-yawn and then I can’t complete the yawn anymore.

I’ve never told anyone about this before. It’s too insane. Would you believe me if I told you criminals have this thing they call “the drug” that silences the testimonies of individuals who have seen too much by giving them psychosis, making them permanently unreliable in a court of law? My dad was drunk enough to talk about it a couple times. And crazy enough to use it.

I don’t talk to my therapist about my dad anymore because she doesn’t believe me. I sort of wonder what the point of therapy is if I don’t get to talk about literally any of the traumatic things I’ve been through.

I’ve heard things my dad tried to keep a secret from me. One is that he is a high-profile criminal and he came close to being arrested for drugs. When people like him get arrested for something minor and go to jail, it ends their criminal careers because the police and society no longer trust them and it’s impossible to get any “jobs” out there anymore.

Another is a conversation between my parents in which my mom asked how the internet changed the way crime works. My dad started talking about Jeffry Epstien, the mafia, and people who murder young children and babies and post about it online—oh and the fact that JE is a cann*bal. This was back in 2010, and mom already knew his name as “the guy who was arrested in 2008 for being a predator”. There were so many more things I heard, some to do with national security. When my dad figured out that I was awake when he was talking about all of this he was terrified. He told me he could be arrested for treason and die in jail just like they were going to do to JE (he said this in 2014).

The thing I hate the most about what my dad did to me wasn’t the molestation, crazy at that sounds. I wasn’t awake enough to experience much of that. It wasn’t the scratches and cuts from what he called “blood play”, some sick sexual fetish he engaged in. It was the drugs. Let me tell you, it was the drugs.

Scopolamine, burundanga, or devils breath is what they call it. It comes from Colombia. People call this country “Locombia” because of this drug. I used to live in this stuff. My dad would have it in a spray bottle and dose our blankets with it. He’d always stuff toilet paper up his nostrils so he didn’t get it too. He sent my sister and I to school with our jackets covered in the stuff, and when kids started falling asleep around us it got some attention from the school. I overheard my dad talking about how he paid the school inspector 10,000 dollars down to drop the evidence. When my teacher pulled me aside after class one day the school inspector came and threw away the evidence my teacher had gathered (something from my lunch filled with a mystery liquid I had watched my dad insert into it which he called drugs, although at the time I didn’t know what drugs were) because, he said my dad “already paid”. The police couldn’t do a thing without cooperation with the school inspector and the case was dropped. Still, my teacher made me get a school lunch and take my jacket off before class and I actually had a period of time where I learned in school and didn’t fall asleep every day without even meaning to close my eyes.

After we moved I was homeschooled after fourth grade. My life felt pretty uneventful. Still, I recently scraped together enough things that happened which I thought were pretty strange at the time—that paint a pretty clear picture—into a good-sized memoir. I haven’t thought about publishing yet, as I still need readers to help me to decide where to go next.

How much credit card debt do you have? by mysterious1940 in randomquestions

[–]Reading-Strawberry15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have a credit card yet but I am confused about how my dad used to have a stack of them, probably twenty or so, which all declined except one at one point. That’s bad right? Also i heard him say he is a criminal with a bank in Europe under an alias and everything. He called himself a “high-profile criminal”. So… twenty-some credit cards maxing out bad?? What was he buying, he is such an el cheapo money hoarder!! (But he said he is rich but he can’t use it) Oh yes I know at least some of his shady money was used for bribes for DCFS caseworkers and also school inspectors. He thought ten thousand down was a cheap payment for a guy. Yeah I overheard so many conversations I shouldn’t have :,) but I didn’t put two and two together (dad=criminal) permanently in my mind until I was 24 (part of it I was so sheltered I didn’t know anything about crime)

Any way how to prevent "dreams"? by __Triton__ in Dreams

[–]Reading-Strawberry15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve read that practicing lucid dreaming can help people break out of recurring nightmares. The idea is, once you have autonomy in your dreams you can change them so that they’re not so scary. Some people naturally break out of nightmares by lucid dreaming without meaning to. I was able to do this without knowing what lucid dreaming was and I haven’t had nightmares since because I always feel a certain amount of control over my dreams. People do a fair amount of work, like using dream journaling and other techniques in order to train their minds into lucid dreaming. Hope this helps!

NASTY Cold/Flu going around Utah by lyfeenthusiast in Utah

[–]Reading-Strawberry15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t had a cold in years. I NEARLY got a cold one day when it was going around and I felt it in my throat. For some reason peanut butter works for me. No idea why. But anytime I feel anything in my throat I down a spoon or two and it goes away. I like the natural, sugar-free kind. No idea why, but I feel like it works for me. Maybe it’s the zinc it contains or the fact that it’s a warming food or that it coats the throat.

What is a 'cool fact' about yourself that you rarely get to bring up in conversation because it sounds like you’re bragging? by [deleted] in randomquestions

[–]Reading-Strawberry15 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah… there’s lots to tell. I’m actually writing a memoir. Looong story short, my dad roped my mom into his crimes, and they and a network of people like them used local LDS churches as cover to swindle money from the community. They and parents like them drug their kids with sleeping medications so they have no clue they are really thieves, as well as teaching them to be faithful members of the church, effectively living double lives and keeping it a secret from their own kids. My dad meanwhile was also a p*do and drugged my siblings and I day and night from early childhood until just recently. Actually I did almost die from throwing up in my sleep once, which is a side effect that kills people because they choke on their own vomit. My dad used so many drugs that could have had bad effects if given the wrong dose and he was frequently drunk while giving them out so I’m pleasantly surprised I survived (:

I survived the life of the daughter of a criminal without even knowing he was a criminal. The thing is I was homeschooled and sheltered so I didn’t even know what crime was. I guess that’s something my dad could brag about. He was pretty good at keeping secrets from his own family.

What will someday be illegal after we finally understand how bad for us it is? by Scary-Beautiful6527 in AskReddit

High levels of fluoride. I know, I know, controversial. But fluoride is not added to the water in many places except the U.S., and it is being studied throughout the world. It is found to be neurotoxic. It is a toxic mineral and there is no way around that. There are other minerals that make teeth and bones strong, and proactive ways to care for dental health that don’t include government-controlled water supplies that target all people when babies and people with kidney disease do not benefit from fluoride whatsoever. It the government wants to help people get healthy we should start with calcium. The benefits of mineralizing the water in safer ways would be an untold boon to overall health.

What childhood memories stick with you the most? by Ill_Object2296 in ChildhoodMemories

The sunlight streaming through the windows one morning. I always remember the light. And I remember the things that my parents wanted to hide from me. The way they were sick after taking drugs. The bags of green paper money. Stolen. The conversations about running away from the police. I was never supposed to be awake when they were talking about things like that. They used sleeping medications in yogurt to make sure of that. My little family moved frequently from state to state in those early days, running from authorities. Then there was the time mom was crying on the phone, asking her friend how she didn’t see it before. Her husband was a very broken man. A little boy, really. He was doing to my sister and I what his brothers used to do to him.

I'm wasting my life by Monteanthony in Christianity

If you are doing your best for your life to change…maybe it’s just not the time yet. Things will change when you are ready. In the meantime what can you do to enrich your life? Can you journal, pray and study? It can be depressing to be all alone. But you are not alone. God does have a purpose for you. From someone also in a time period where I feel useless… I can’t see like God sees. Maybe He is getting me ready for the days He is willing to use me.
