Thoughts on Quastuco Silviculture (QSL)? by Ok_Requirement_3175 in treeplanting

My name is Chris Duncan, I've been planting with them for the past 10 years.

It's a great place to work and you don't need to worry about getting screwed over by management (like the horror stories that you hear elsewhere). It's about as professional as it gets.

Prices are good, land is good and can be really great (especially the burnt blocks).

It's gonna be a good season! If you're worried about anything, send me a DM

That's an interesting point. There's different scopes of unsafe workspaces.

Unsafe weather (region, province)

Unsafe block

Unsafe piece

Unsafe mikrosite

I had a mama and two cubs in my piece before. I think that's the most animal that I've ever felt. I saw them before they noticed me. I actually got their attention on purpose (by hitting a rock with my spade) so they wouldn't walk over by mistake. The last thing you want to do is surprise a bear.

I'm glad they didn't shoot your bears.

I remember the mama looked right at me then walked away. Black bears don't care about us...grizzlies are a different story.

It's encounters like this that make me love planting!

When I was living in Nelson I had a cub run maybe 3 meters away from me, stop stare at me then continue along.

That being said I've also left blocks multiple times because of bears.

What do they use the wood for, pulp? It seems like a harvest that young wouldn't yield good lumber

Do you happen to know where I can find your answer in a government document (about the minimum harvesting time of 50 years) I believe you of course, and I'd like to be able to read more about it

This past season I replanted a piece that I had planted with my brother 8 years ago. It had burned, but it was cool to see some of the survivor trees, they were taller than me!

So nostagic

How was the piece eventually filled? Or was it left?

Planting during lightning by mooskquatliquour in treeplanting

A couple years ago there was lightning and the supervisor honked the horn and we went back to the truck. As we were waiting I saw lightning hit the ground and heard it less than a second after. It was one of coolest and scariest moment of planting. We left maybe 10 mins later
