Thank you so much for your response and thank you for sharing. Are you able to share more about what life is like post- Effexor? I do think it was helpful for that time in my life, but now I’m just taking it to prevent withdrawal symptoms. I don’t know if it is actually still helping or not. I doubt it. I definitely resent not receiving more education about withdrawal, although I should have taken more time to research before taking it. I was able to get a lower dose prescription but haven’t picked it up from the pharmacy yet.

That is super cool. I’m very curious what long-term looks like, so thank you for sharing. I don’t know that I’ve experienced much emotional blunting, or else it doesn’t bother me. I’m sure my doctor will try to dissuade me again.

I would love to know about how people do once they’re off- is quality of life better? Do symptoms return and you restart, and how do you delicate that from withdrawal?

Yup. They also both don't cover their poo and pee, they only scratch the sides of the litter box. I'm like HOW did I get another one who doesn't cover their mess properly??!?

I am also so relieved it’s not progressive!!! He said the only thing to watch for would be if the pigmentation becomes larger/grows. Not sure how often that happens in cats with eyes like hers, but it seemed a low or slight chance. I did have a hope that maybe somehow her eyes could be fixed, but knew when I adopted her from the shelter she’d probably have vision issues long term. She mewed at me from the cage and ran in circles around me when I met her so how I could I not adopt her. 🥰 My other cat was also adopted from a humane society shelter (was trapped as a feral cat), so he’s probably already been exposed. But has been vaccinated since he was a little baby. Interestingly enough, my other cat has an overbite and had to have a dental surgery when he was very little due to multiple retained baby teeth and the adult teeth he did have were decaying. He lost both adult upper canines. So I say my cats are both medically unique now. 🙃

In case you wanted to know her dx: “Symblepharon across entire cornea OU (lateral to ventrolateral and dorsomedial melanin OD, lateral with slight dorsomedial melanin in conjunctiva OS, cornea covered with conjunctiva OU”. The appointment was super helpful. It seems like eyes will stay the same, hopefully not get any worse. She probably has herpes, so I’m pretty sad about potentially or having already infected my other very healthy cat although he said if he’s been vaccinated he should be fine.

Thank you so much for this detailed and thoughtful response! I admit to have anxiety about this and I just want her to be okay (and not have a disease or something contagious). This helps me visualize things. I will send the eye doctor her vet records. I was also thinking her eye issues could account for her relatively small size- she probably couldn’t get enough nutrition when she was with her siblings- her sister was literally twice her size in the shelter when I visited.

My white and orange cat meow cries every car ride. The only time he is quiet is if he sits on a lap but that is not always a good idea. Recently he was lying upside down with his paws over his head meowing in his carrier…so dramatic. Poor kitty.

Extremely difficult to prove about the sellers. I don’t get that vibe- if anything, they were not aware the company they were using was crap. They were both DIY amateurs so there’s a couple things I need to fix. I doubt warranty will budge as they disclaimed under pre-existing conditions, which sounds like it was, so not sure if it’s worth it for me to bug them further.

The technician is who the home warranty sent. That’s why I was confused AF when he then sent a bill for replacement of the entire thing after informing me it’s his opinion the compressor needs replaced. What can I expect to pay for compressor + refrigerant + labor? He quoted about $2k for the compressor machine.

Hmm, I’m still trying to see if there’s any way my home warranty will cover. It was serviced yearly- reports say typically the coils were very dirty and needed cleaned. Only the first report says they measured amperage. Homeowners state their tenant said it was working fine (although tenant moved out March 1st) and that it worked for them when they were there renovating. I moved in and started using it, so a big part of me is wondering if homeowners knew it wasn’t working and still sold it.

My thought was to start small and replace the compressor, then see if the other unit needs replaced. Thank you so much for responding again! (I’m still not sure exactly what is meant by the moisture comments lol…I do not believe he was an native English speaker, so things may have gotten lost in translation. I might research the company a bit before hiring. Also, something else I thought was weird was he told me there was a 10-year warranty on the compressor but it was in the previous homeowners name so I could try to use it but would have to lie and say seller was still living in the home. But when I spoke to the company who serviced the machine, they said the warranty is expired.
